David Gately tips profit on Melbourne Cup Day

The man they call Gator gave punters a tidy profit on Melbourne Cup day with a roughie coming home for him in the final race at Flemington. 

He tipped 2 winners on the day, which was enough to give his followers 15% profit on turnover.

Here's what he said about his winners in his Cup Day package.

Race 2 - The Macca’s Run - BM96 - 2800m

7 - WHITE MARLIN

Two wins at home were at 2414m. Beat VRC Derby winner Manzoice at his Oz debut then strong win Caulfield on Heavy-8 at 2000m with 60kg (runner-up won Sunday) and there were big gaps behind him. 

Race 10 - Listed MSS Sprint - 1200m

16 - VESPERTINE

Nice work to line Caulfield fresh when not far off Zapateo (so good here Saturday) and Literary Magnate and co. (ran in previous) and race rated well. Won 2nd-up last prep then chased Annavisto in fast time here. 

The Melbourne Cup winner was also in Gator's sites. It wasn't his standout but got a mention as a horse that could definitely win the race. Here is what he had to say about its chances in the Melbourne Cup.

1 - GOLD TRIP - Class act himself. Looked home in Caulfield Cup but nutted by Durston who had 6kg less.. Beat Duais et al. That is now 4 x G1 placings at 2400m. Ran well in Cox Plate without luck when on heels of El Bogedon. Loves wet. Will he run the 3200m with 57.5kg is the query but including.
