Best Bets around the grounds
Doomben Race 4 Tip #4 Dominant King $3.80
This son of Deep Field was impressive in only his second race start when winning his maiden. He was working three wide from the 600m, but was still able to get the job done.
Notably the second placed filly, Miss Barty, went on to break her maiden status in her following start.
Given the way the gelding went through the line on debut, I'm expecting him to improve further up to 1200m and make his way through the grades.
Former Victorian hoop Ben Thompson has partnered this youngster in all starts so far. Expect Thompson to take up a nice stalking trail behind the leaders and give him the run of the race.
He will aim to pull him to the middle of the track on straightening and work his way through the gears to overcome the front runners and prove too strong.

Sandown Race 8 Tip #1 Avilius $3.70
The veteran Godolphin galloper lines up as favourite in the Zipping Classic.
Forget about the Melbourne Cup run, the 2400m is more his go.
He runs very well on firm surfaces and he’s a level above his opposition.
The booking of Damien Oliver is good push and I suspect we'll see a dominant performance.
Sandown Race 2 Tip #4 Hindaam $5.50 each-way
Sprinted home strongly to win at Bendigo over 1300m and the extra 100 metres will suit even more.
The likelihood of a fast run race is ideal and I expect this filly to be flying over the top late.

Newcastle Race 4 Tip #1 Superium $3.40
We were with this gelding first-up at a nice price, when he found traffic jams all the way down the Royal Randwick straight.
I see absolutely no reason to jump off him, now that he finds a firm, spacious track.
Earlier in his career, he was touted as being a Listed and lower Group tier horse after he matched it with the likes of Embracer, Splintex and True Detective.
Last preparation was just entirely a complete forgive.
He struggled to show his almighty turn of speed on the winter tracks, however still ran well enough against quality gallopers such as Adelong, Handspun and Broken Arrows.
Trainer Joe Pride learnt a lot about him in that prep and I now have him pegged as a firm track sprinter who races best when fresh.
All those factors come together this Saturday and he has found himself the perfect race to get back into the winner’s stall.
In all honesty it’s actually quite embarrassing that he finds himself in a race of this standard, as he’s a galloper of high calibre who could go onto good races if placed correctly.
Louise Day gets the ride from a middle stall and her 2kg weight relief makes him go from a “Good Thing” to a “Sit and Steer” job for me.

Ascot Race 3 Tip #2 Eeyore Wayz $2.70
Eeyore Wayz is a 1000m specialist, with an impressive record of 4 starts for 3 wins.
His sixth in the Group 3 Prince of Wales stakes was full of merit, where he was arguably the run of the race and he matched motors late sectionally with Stageman.
The first 4 across the line from the Prince of Wales of stakes progress to the Group 3 Colonel Reeves Stakes later on in the card, and likely the Winterbottom in two week's time.
Meanwhile, Eeyore Wayz drops back to a 66+ and carries the same weight as he did in the Prince of Wales stakes.
Eeyore Wayz is a get back run on horse, so the wide barrier is no concern and there is an abundance of speed with Ziebell, Bos Taurus, Express Time, among others all engaged.
They will fly up front which will suit Eeyore Wayz to a tee as he will be using his big finishing burst and launching at them late.

Sandown Race 1 Tip #5 Forbes $2.80
This two-year-old colt jumped out well at Mornington.
He won the first one under his own steam and there and there was a margin back to the opposition.
He then looked good winning the second jump-out, sitting wide and making a swooping run. That's no easy feat at Mornington and he was really strong after the line.
The colt finds a winnable race on debut and has been backed accordingly!
