5/10/20 Horse racing tips today

Canterbury plays hosts to metropolitan racing on Labour Day in NSW, with a cracking card back-ending what has been a fantastic weekend of racing. 

The track is currently rated a Good 4 and the is rail out 6m for the entire circuit.

At this set-up, horses than can find the rail and sit on-pace will hold the key.

From the stewards

The horse worth keeping an eye on from the steward's report is Mirra Vision, running around in race 7.

Last start in a Saturday meeting at Rosehill, she was slow to begin before being steadied to avoid heels around the 900m mark and forced outwards by another runner.

The mare raced wide without cover from that point on, however she managed to finish strongly after recording a 34 second last 600m sectional.

She looks one of two hopes in this race today and is drawn ideally to get the dream run throughout.

I expect her class to rise to the top here.

Canterbury Race 1 Tip #4 Sabor $6.50

This Lonhro colt is looking to break his maiden status in this clash.

Last start at Canberra, he started poorly before being urged forward to lead. He was headed around the 150m mark but to his credit, he fought on gamely.

He was travelling nicely into the straight before putting on a nice dash from the 400m - 200m mark in 10.84, to finish off in 11.64.

He comes into this second-up but he will be fit and firing stretching out to the 1550m, given he had three trials leading into his first-up assignment.

The form from his last start has stood up nicely, with both the winner and third place finisher performing well in their following start.

The colt has a good gate for this clash and gun front running rider, Tim Clark, booked.

From the draw, expect Clark to push forward for the lead which is going to be ideal given the rail position.

I expect him to use his high cruising speed before showing that trademark 200m dash as they enter the straight.

This should be enough for him to break his maiden status at juicy odds.
