The Golden Eagle is one of Racing NSW's newest feature races, with the 2019 Sydney Spring racing season chosen for its launch.
The race provides an incentive for owners to resist offers from studs and continue racing their gallopers into the four-year-old season.
The inaugural Golden Eagle will take place at Rosehill on 2nd November. This is the same date as Derby Day at Flemington, which makes for a mouth-watering day for punters.
First place will receive a $4.1 million slice of the $7.5 million purse up for grabs. The connections of each runner will nominate a charity to donate 10% of the prizemoney they earn from the race (outlined in table below).

The Golden Eagle is the third-leg of the 'Golden Slam', with the Golden Slipper for two-year-olds and the Golden Rose for three-year-olds making up the other two legs.
If a horse can clinch the Golden Slam, connections will pocket an additional $5 million bonus.
The early favourite for Saturday's event is the Chris Waller trained Arcadia Queen.
The mare is coming off a failure as favourite in The Everest over 1200m, but looks far better suited over the 1500m.
Since drawing barrier five, she has been backed off the map from $4 into $2.80.
