The Golden Rose Stakes is run at Rosehill Racecourse either in August or September each year under set weight conditions.

Run over the 1400 metre course, the Golden Rose Stakes is considered the premier 3YO race of the Sydney Spring Carnvial and is open to colts, fillies and geldings.

A purse of $1 million dollars is on offer to the top ten finishing horses in the race.

Races which prove to be good form indicators into this race include the Run to the Rose run over 1300 metres, the Silver Shadown Stakes for three year old fillies and the Group 3 Up and Coming Stakes for three year old colts.

Prior to 2003 the race was known as the Peter Pan Stakes and was run over the 1500 metres. In 2005 it was graded as a listed race, rising to a Group 3 race in 2006, a Group 2 race in 2008 and then became a Group 1 race in 2009.
