Media experts tip with precision
Two members of Australia's horse racing media had a fill-up last week, giving punters plenty to cheer about.
The first of these experts was Joel Marshall, one of the leading tipsters appearing in the Best Bets racing magazine and form guide.
Marshall tipped with terrific precision over the weekend, finding 8 winners at a strike rate of 29%.
To make this more impressive, his winners came at the generous average price of $5.94.
The standout selection would have to be Marcada, which saluted at 30/1 in the first at Cranbourne on Sunday.
Joel Marshall's big roughie
These cracking numbers resulted in a 70% POT, or $1,950 in cash profit if you followed Marshall's tips with $100 bets.
Best Bets has become an icon amongst Australia's racing community in recent times, and it's not hard to see why with their tipsters putting in performances like this.
The other media expert who saw them well over the weekend was Chris Blackwell.
This West Australian form expert is in some stellar form, having found his followers a profit in 4 of his past 5 tipping days.
Chris Blackwell's hot form
But it was his efforts at Ascot on Saturday and Geraldton on Sunday that really stood out.
Across these two meets, Blackwell tipped 7 winners. That doesn't tell half the story, however.
That's because 6 of these winners were Blackwell's best bets.
To demonstrate the value of a tipster who can get his best bets over the line, you just need to take a look at the horse racing tipster leaderboard.
Under "even stake", Blackwell's 10 winners over the past week generated $1,900 in profit from $100 win bets.
But alter the leaderboard settings to "actual stake", where the best bets are taken into account, and Blackwell's profit surges up to $3,940.
Now that's some astute tipping.
Onto the punters now, and the best of the bunch was Baz122, who ended the week at the top of the even stake leaderbaord with $2,680 in cash profit from $100 win bets.
This big profit was generated by just 3 winners.
You know that value must have been the order of the day and that was exactly the case.
Baz122's winners came at an average price in excess of the $15 mark.
This was thanks to roughies Colada and Tofane, who both got up at Randwick and Caulfield respectively on Saturday.
Even more impressive than Baz122's profit was his POT, which was one of the week's best at 141%.
If you think finding these two roughies and securing the big POT was a bit of a fluke, think again.
That's because Baz122 is now sitting on a profit of $8,590 and 17% POT from all his selections over the last 180 days.
Baz122's impressive stats
To maintain this level for so long is a serious achievement.
The final mention goes to Milko27, who makes it two consecutive weeks at the top of the leaderboard.
In last week's column, we were singing his praises for tipping a winner at just about every track in Australia.
This time it was more of the same, with Milko27's 10 winners coming from 8 different racecourses.
These winners came at a meaty average price of $8.19, which resulted in a cash profit of almost $2K.
Milko27 is airborne and you can bet his tips for this week will be in high demand.
