Best bets for midweek racing
Free racing tips from Michael Gannon
With fine weather forecast on Wednesday in Sydney, the Kensington track will start a Good 4 with a track upgrade to a Good 3 on the cards.
The rail is in the true position the entire circuit, with on-pace runners likely to benefit from a fast racing surface.

Kensington Race 2 Tip #3 Cock Match $5.00
This gelding from the Waterhouse/Bott yard was well supported in betting first-up, but was unable to produce the goods for punters after setting a hot-speed.
Jumping from an inside draw, jockey Tommy Berry was forced to spend plenty of petrol to hold the lead. Despite being out of puff at the 100m mark, he held on well to finish 1.65 lengths off the winner.
Stepping up to the 1400m second-up is a big tick for the gelding, as is the wide barrier draw. He possesses natural early speed, which will allow Berry to amble across from barrier 8 and spend little energy in doing so.
The way he battled on in the concluding stages at his latest outing suggests he'll relish the extra 150m here and with a soft time of it out in front, he'll be tough to chase down.

There's plenty of sunshine forecast for Melbourne over the coming days and the Ballarat track is rated a Good 4.
The rail is out 4m from the 600-1600m and true the remainder of the circuit, which should play fairly for all runners.

Ballarat Race 2 Tip #10 Monetizing $8.50
This girl caught my eye at the jump outs.
She was then sent to Bendigo for her debut, where she was met with good market support before making a mess of the start.
This forced her to settle towards the rear of the field and the leaders had too much of a headstart over the short distance.
Despite the filly's troubled run, I was impressed by the way she made ground in the straight and after the winning post. This suggests that she will appreciate the extra trip over 1200m here.
Look for Damian Lane to ride positively from the wide barrier, to sit closer to the speed and hopefully find some cover.
If he can achieve that, she will be perfectly positioned to fight out the finish. At the $8.50 odds, she looks a great each-way bet.
