Gator's Saturday Best Bets
All ratings for Flemington are for a Good track, with the rail out 4m.
On New Year’s Day with the rail True the track played well, and in straight races winners tended to come down the middle.
At Wyong, ratings are for a Soft track with mixed weather predictions suggesting 5–10mm Friday and 1–5mm Saturday.
The rail returns to True after being at 3m on New Year’s Eve, where 6 of the 7 races were won by horses settling in the first four.
However, the final race saw several runners making ground out wider, which may indicate a developing trend to monitor.

Bet of the Day (Melbourne)
Flemington – Race 9 No.8 – Prince Eric
Prince Eric has been knocking on the door this preparation, and this race looks like a perfect opportunity for him to break through.
Two starts ago, he was held up and checked in a fast-run race at Ballarat but still finished strongly once clear.
Last start at Moonee Valley, he faced a tough trip, racing wide throughout but continued to close late.
Now drawing a better gate, Prince Eric gets the chance to settle closer and capitalise on a more economical run.
With luck in transit, he’ll be hard to hold out.
Bet of the Day (Sydney)
Wyong – Race 10 No.4 – Yorkshire
Yorkshire is well-placed to deliver a strong performance here after an eye-catching return to racing.
First-up, he pushed the talented Accredited all the way, finishing a close second, with the pair clearing out from the rest of the field.
Accredited has since won again comfortably, further franked the form.
Yorkshire strips fitter for that effort, handles wet ground comfortably and appears to have bigger wins in him beyond this BM78 grade.
He’s ready to go close today.
