Flaws found for Magic Millions Day favourites
This weeks lays focus on the flagship Gold Coast Magic Millions race day where we have found two runners that appear well under the odds.
One of these lays appears to have entered the race to provide the owners with a day out at the high profile event, and the other has significant speed map challenges to overcome.
Both should be avoided at all costs.
Gold Coast Race 2 #11 Miss Toorak Flyer $3.30
Has a less than desirable SP profile where she started at long odds at her past two starts when not given any hope by the market.
Despite the fact that she ran well in that race, the stable exposed their lack of confidence in the mare by not providing a betting lead to the market.
On face value this does look a weaker race however she largely comes out of restricted 3yo and 4yo events and now meets the older more seasoned horses here.
The wide draw (gate 18) looks ugly and she will be forced to travel well back in the field and may have to come from last to be winning this.
Smells like a classic case of the high profile ownership group (Rosemont Stud) desperate to have a runner on Magic Millions day, with complete disregard for the horse’s lack of ability.
Should have never been entered in this race. Lay.
Gold Coast Race 7 #8 Outback Barbie $2.30
Going to pot the raging hot Magic Millions 3yo Guineas favourite this week who has come up awfully short at $2.30.
No doubting her quality however this race has much more depth than most expect. Even with the key scratchings there is enough talent to provide stiff opposition to this runner.
Bondi, The Fire Trap and Boomsara are all likely to race ahead of her in the run and unless J Mac gives his mount a good dig up early, which risks over-racing, there is a huge chance she will be forced to travel 3 back on the rail.
This is not an ideal outcome and could prove a very difficult position to extricate from at the top of the short Gold Coast straight.
The speed map looks ugly and she must be avoided at all costs. Poison odds.
