Tamworth hosts a tough seven race card on Monday, with big competitive fields the theme of the day.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and fine weather forecast for the north-east NSW region.
The rail is in the true position and at this set-up, on-pace runners typically hold the key.
From the stewards
The horse worth keeping an eye on from the steward's report is Banju, running around in race 2.
Last start at Scone, the Benfica gelding began awkwardly before being caught wide without cover the entire 1300m.
To his credit, he kept coming to run a place.
He is drawn wide here, but gets Greg Ryan aboard who should be able to find him the cover needed for the 1400m journey.
He is short in the market but he is definitely the one to beat. Expect a win here.
The Time Thief mare has been very consistent over her career and I expect that to continue here.
Last start at this track and distance, she sat a touch worse than midfield before moving into the pack around the bend.
Once clear, she let down nicely and really monstered the line only to narrowly miss out on a win.
She ran 11.68 from the 400m - 200m and 11.69 in the last 200m, suggesting she has strong acceleration when needed.
Her best runs come off a slow pace and in a race that is devoid of early speed, she should get things run to suit here.
She's drawn wide but will come in a few after scratchings and is likely to be ridden back anyway.
Look for jockey Luke Cumberland to sit off them before chiming in at the top of the straight and charging home over the top.
At the price, she is a brilliant each-way play.
