Eagle Farm Race 3 Tip #1 Ditmas $9.50
This gelding has won in a higher grade and only carries 3kg above the minimum for this assignment.
You can forgive his last run at this track, as he was asked to do too much early work and was taken on after he led them up.
He was a sitting duck in that clash and it was no surprise to see him fade accordingly.
The run prior was also in Saturday grade, where he sat back and ran-on nicely to finish third behind the well performed Junction.
This is his first go at 1300m, however I feel the extra 100m will benefit him given a more patient ride this time.
Michael Cahill will be on board for the first time and from the good alley and tucked in behind the leaders, he will be a big chance to take this out at a nice price.
Balaklava Race 3 Tip #3 Koruto $2.80
On a tough day of racing across the nation, I’ve gone left field for my best of the day.
After casting my eye over a nice card in SA, I’ve identified a progressive Written Tycoon galloper who has the ability to make it in city class and looks to have the measure of his opposition here.
Despite the fact he's yet to place in his first two career starts, his beaten form sees him well placed to break his maiden in midweek grade here.
The exposed form indicates he has lengths on these, with the main danger being the unraced Vancity Gem.
I expect a race in two, but I'm leaning the way of the race experience here.
The only knock is the wide draw but with Toeroek in the saddle, I’m confident he will get every chance in the run.
Warwick Farm Race 1 Tip #4 Much Much Better $5.00
I'm looking to strike early with this grey three-year-old from the John O’Shea yard, who steps out to 1400m after a good return from the spelling yard.
The son of Stratum took on the 1300m at Randwick Kensington first-up, where he was beaten 2 lengths into fourth after putting up a gallant fight in front prior to getting squeezed.
He was able to make the running in that clash, on a day where there was a bias towards horses in the middle of the track and swooping.
The form from the race has proven to be very good, with place-getter Cadenabbia going on to notch up a victory and Hot Spring Gold running well in a strong maiden last week.
The gelding comes here with added fitness second-up and stretched out to 1400m, the same distance he was narrowly defeated by smart filly Montefilia last preparation.
He gets an identical set-up here and stays on a dry surface, where his best performances have come.
Connections have found Nash Rawiller, who is striking at 35% from his past 20 metropolitan rides.
From the good draw, he will make his own luck on-speed and prove awfully hard to get past.
Warwick Farm Race 4 Tip #7 Prince of Arragon $6.50
With placings in his last three runs, the son of More Than Ready looks to go one better here.
Two back at Newcastle, he looked all but the winner before being run over late by Seeingisbelieving. That was his first go beyond a mile and all signs indicated that he could go even further.
Last start at Wyong, he stepped up to 2100m and was well fancied. He just couldn't bridge the gap on the winner Frenzied, finishing 0.4 lengths third.
He now meets that galloper 1.5kg better off for that run and gains the services of Tim Clark.
There isn't much speed on paper here, so expect him to go forward alongside Frenzied from the ideal draw.
Although he is up in grade, he certainly won't be out of place and looks a good play at an attractive each-way price.
