We're off to the Victorian Central Highlands today, as Ballarat hosts a competitive 8-race card on the synthetic surface.
The rail is in the true position the entire circuit, with fine but cold conditions forecast for the popular gold mining town.
Michael has identified 4-races today that represent good betting opportunities.

From the stewards
Balle D'or in Race 6 had the blinkers on for the first-time last start and after striking trouble in the run, she over-raced for quite some time.
She also sat three-wide for most the trip and given she was only collared late, her effort was impressive.
With even luck in the run today, look for her to prove far too good for her rivals.
Jockey to follow
John Allen has great riding stats on the Ballarat Synthetic.
Allen has had 42 rides here over the past year, recording 10 wins and 11 placings.
The hoop has 6-rides today, with his best chance coming in race 2 on Emerald Crown.

You won't get a pat on the back for tipping this horse today. However, she looks the safest bet on a competitive card.
She returned to the track off a 155-day spell, running a nice third on a Soft 7 at Cranbourne. Her fitness gave out late in that clash, but there is no doubt that she'll strip fitter second-up and is ready to win.
This is by far the weakest field she's faced in her short career and her on-pace racing style holds her in good stead.
She'll jump from barrier 7 and looks set to follow inside runner and nominated leader, Grinzinger Strasse, across to sit outside the lead.
There looks very little pressure in this field, so I expect this girl to get a soft run in transit before jockey John Allen hits the go button at the top of the straight.
