Canterbury is the venue for midweek NSW metropolitan racing, with a competitive seven race card set for decision over the course of the afternoon.
The track is currently rated a Heavy 8 but with drying conditions in Sydney over the past few days, the surface could sneak into the Soft range.
The rail is out 6m and at the last few meetings here, horses in low draws have held an advantage with rails in the run the optimal racing pattern.

Canterbury Race 1 Tip #1 Cat D’oro $2.25
I'm aiming to strike early with this son of Catkins, who looks one of the standout bets on a very good program.
We never really saw him unleashed at the trials, with the colt given two quiet runs before heading into his first career outing.
As one of the outsiders in a small field, he ran an encouraging fourth in a muddily run race only beaten 3 lengths. There have been two subsequent winners from that race, which suggests it's a good form-line.
He was then heavily supported in his second career clash, before fighting out a two-horse war down the home straight.
The colt loomed into the race looking as though he’d win comfortably, however Godolphin’s Tiny kicked back to claim a strong win.
They comfortably gapped the rest of the field by 5-lengths, demonstrating that they were the superior gallopers.
He presents third-up now with a fitness edge and looks suited stepping out to the 1200m
Top jockey James McDonald retains the ride, and he draws well in barrier 3 to box seat.
He should be very familiar with these surroundings, given this is his third straight hit-out at Canterbury.
I expect him to kick off the day well for favourite punters!

Canterbury Race 4 Tip #8 Forbidden Love $6.00
This filly by All Too Hard came a long way in her first prep, winning on debut before running soundly behind Away Game in the Group 2 Percy Sykes.
She was forced to work hard from barrier 12 on that occasion and wasn't far off some promising gallopers, including See You Soon and Dame Giselle.
She had another run after that, but looked to have come to the end of her prep and was sent straight for a spell.
The filly returns off two trials which gives her a good foundation for this 1200m first-up run.
From barrier 2, she can use her good gate speed to jump and lead.
The two other horses with early toe have drawn wide and are likely to cruise across under their own steam, rather than make a race of it in the early exchanges.
If that unfolds, then Forbidden Love can sit in behind the speed and have first crack at them on turning for home.
If she can run near or up to her Percy Sykes effort, she'll be in this for a long, long way!
