It's with great excitement that I contribute my first post for theGreatTipOff.com.
Having been a racing fan for the best part of a decade and enjoying nothing more than watching a horse in full stride, I was inspired to become a form analyst in 2018.
Being a Perth local, my aim is to provide unique insights and winning tips for metropolitan Western Australian racing.
Each week I will provide my best bets for Saturday racing from across the Nullarbor. Going forward, you can access my full Saturday racing package here.
This Saturday's Belmont meeting is headlined by the Listed Belmont Newmarket.
With up to 10mm forecast between now and Saturday, the track should remain in the Soft Range.
Belmont has played evenly so far this winter, with no racing bias evident.
With the rail out 6m for this meeting, it could pay to be on those who land on-pace, especially over the shorter distances.
Belmont Race 4 Tip #8 Cryptic Love $4.00
Last time out over the 1400m, this four-year-old hit the line hard running into second behind Festival Miss.
From the wide draw, jockey Troy Turner elected to sit last in the run before the mare impressed when going through her gears in the straight.
The kinder draw in barrier three is a huge plus and will allow Turner to sit closer to the speed.
If Turner can hold a more forward position this time around, she'll prove very hard to beat.
Belmont Race 8 Tip #3 Neurological $3.40
Neurological lobs here after a two-month freshen. We last saw him take out a BM76 over 1400m here at Belmont.
On that occasion, he was midfield in the run before Pike produced the gelding at the 300m mark and he proved too strong down the long straight.
He rises in weight (2.5kg) off that win, but he's unbeaten at this trip (2:2-0-0) and the stable have had success with him fresh in the past.
I'm expecting a big run from him here, using this as a springboard to his main target, the Hannans in Kalgoorlie.
Mikes selections and statistics appear on our Belmont tips page.
