Fine weather finally returns for race day as punters rejoice.
The track should improve to a Soft surface, rather than the ‘’bottomless’’ pit that saw Randwick canned.
The rail is out 4m from the 1500m to the winning post.
It was TRUE at Rosehill's last meeting and the inside was off, immediately.
Rosehill Race 2 #13 Opal Ridge $9.00
This talented filly has done all that has been asked of her at two career starts.
Granted she'll need to rise to another level again on Saturday, but she has enormous scope to do so.
Last start she sat wide, on-pace and put her rivals away with ease by 3-lengths.
She draws barrier 1 and looks set to map for the dream run in transit.
The high pressure 1100m at Rosehill looks right up her alley and I expect her to be right in the finish.
Rosehill Race 2 #13 Opal Ridge $9.00
After two stunning victories at Canberra and Scone, this 2YO filly out of Rubick takes the step up to Saturday grade competition.
Rubick is one of the most underrated sires in Australia and has produced multiple black-type winners with natural speed.
It is no different with Opal Ridge. She possesses a high cruising tempo and glides along the ground.
At her last start at Scone she was caught deep the entire trip, whilst up on pace. This would cause many young runners to overexert and cost themselves the race.
She stayed composed and worked into the race brilliantly, before putting a gap on her rivals after the bend.
It takes an abundance of talent to produce a run like that, and she is fully deserving of a crack at Saturday grade.
Kerrin Mcevoy takes the reins and has recently come back into form. From barrier one he can push forward to either lead or sit just behind the leaders.
I am expecting the inside to hold up better than it has in recent weeks and she can shoot the gap after the bend.
She will be very hard to catch and the early $9 on offer is a ridiculous price. A brilliant each-way bet to start the day.
Rosehill Race 5 #7 Shades Of Rose $2.60
Shades Of Rose ran a big race last time out.
She was slow away out of the gates and cost herself the race, but it was still a very game performance.
She gets back on a drying Rosehill track where it’s an advantage to be on pace over the 1000m.
Fitness will be at the top now and she looks very hard to beat.
She has drawn a perfect gate in barrier 2 and gets James McDonald aboard now.
If she steps well, I’m confident she wins this race.
I’m buttering up again.
