Horse racing heads to the upper Hunter region of NSW on Friday, as Muswellbrook hosts a nice eight race card.
The track is currently rated a Soft 5 and with sunshine forecast, there is a chance of an upgrade.
The rail is in the true position, so expect the track to play fair.

From the stewards
Derby Star in Race 3 is the horse that stands out to me in the steward's report.
The Starcraft gelding travelled keenly throughout the early and middle stages last start at Newcastle, and ran into trouble around the 800m mark.
Given the troublesome run, it was no surprise to see him fade in the latter stages of the race and finish at the rear.
A post-race vet examination also revealed the gelding was slow to recover.
If he's back to his usual self today, expect him to start well in the market and prove hard to beat.
Jockey to follow
Aaron Bullock has great stats at Muswellbrook.
Bullock has had 46 rides here in the past 12 months, winning 15 at a strike rate of 33%.
The hoop is booked for four rides, with his best chance coming in race 3 on Derby Star.
I've identified 3-races on today's card that represent good betting opportunities. Below is my best bet on the card and my quaddie numbers.

The Myboycharlie filly returns in a very winnable maiden here and she looks well placed.
She returns off a four month break with one trial under her belt, where she was hard held to the line.
Last preparation, she finished less than 2 lengths behind the Group 3 placed Icebath who would be $1.10 coming into this race.
From the wide draw, I expect Grant Buckley to slot in mid-field which will give her every chance to let down in the straight
She looks the best horse in the race and with even luck, this filly will be breaking her maiden today.
Race 5: 2, 5, 6, 8
Race 6: 3,4, 6, 9
Race 7: 2, 5, 7
Race 8: 3, 5, 6, 8
