Doomben Race 5 Tip #4 Goldifox $2.80
After tackling an unsuitable race in Lsted company, I am willing to forgive this 5YO mare who is well placed in this midweek Class 5.
Assessing her last run, she finished well back and was a length behind her key rival today, Le Castille. However, it is worth noting that she was crowded for room in the drive to the line so the margin between the two was slightly exaggerated.
We only need to go back two starts for the last time she tackled the 1600m. The run was outstanding, as she flew from the rear of the field to almost catch Cloak on the line.
Up to 1660m now, this race looks the perfect set up for this Foxwedge mare and Craig Williams should be able to steer a clearer passage this time from the good gate.
She will be charging home and should make amends from her near miss two starts back.
Canterbury Race 1 Tip #5 Tavi L'amour $6.50
I have been really impressed with this 2YO filly's trials over the past month.
In her first trial she came up against Huesca, making late ground on him while under no riding. That horse was an impressive winner last Wednesday at the Kenso track.
In her second trial she was caught 3 deep the entire trip and once again made late ground out wide to miss by the smallest of margins.
Both of those hit-outs were over 1045m and given the way she finished them off, the filly will relish stretching out further. This 1250m trip looks like a great first-up assignment.
If they run true as expected at Canterbury look for Tavi L'amour to be the one flashing at them late down the outside.
Cranbourne Race 2 Tip #13 Blue Army $2.80
In his first jump out I was impressed by this young colt's determination as he stuck on well with some older gallopers, including Cabinho and Petruchio.
Since that trial Cabinho has franked the form by running 2nd in BM58 grade.
He then took natural progression and won an official trial against older gallopers, which included Mosscon who has since won a BM64.
I am confident he will be fit enough and the trainer, jockey combo of Kent and Kah is flying at the moment.
