See who they like and why.
Sandown Hillside Race 5 #5 Rock Artist $6.00
The market has this all wrong and this 4yo Gelding has a top chance here.
Ran well first-up and was only pipped right on the line by 'Okay To Pay'.
The third horse in that race has come out and won since, while 'Okay To Pay' ran 6th recently at Mornington during their Cup Day.
They ran the exact same time as what 'Squad' ran last start at Mornington and the conditions certainly look to favour 'Rock Artist' here with his strong Heavy track record (3 wins from 4 starts).
Goes well here at the track (2 starts for a win and a placing) and has won second-up a couple of times previously (2 from 5).
Should land up on-pace and settle outside the favourite from barrier 4 and with added fitness coming into this run, he has a top chance here.
Randwick Race 5 #1 Super Effort $3.70
Take the Ryan and Alexiou stable on trust as they are the masters of getting a horse to fire first up.
This 5YO gelding resumes on the back of a year-and-a-half spell and has trialled well in the lead-up to this return run.
He does have to carry the top weight, but in a key indication he is ready to fire they have opted against an apprentice and have landed on Jay Ford aboard.
He has drawn well and can settle in the first couple of runners before steaming home.
Ipswich Race 1 #2 Nippa's Nightcap $2.30
The top two runners in this race are coming back from the Group 2 Queensland Guineas, where they both were a bit out of their depth.
Nippa's Nightcap had the measure of Cocobrew Express as they crossed the line and should do so again, back in grade to this 3YO BM65.
He won nicely the start prior here at Ipswich, so is at home at the circuit and with James Orman in the saddle, he should position in the first four.
He's good enough to bounce back here in this much easier assignment.
