The double-figure winners keep on rolling in.
Luke steered punters into More Prophets in the Dark Jewell at Scone last Saturday paying $17, making it 6 winning weeks straight for this article.
Mick Gannon and Luke Hovhanesian are keen to keep the good times rolling and have just dropped their best plays for Satuday's feature events.
Mick Gannon's Tip
Thalassophile ($6) is a winner over the Rosehill 2000m and maps to perfection from barrier 3 here.
His peak rating of 98.6 has him in this race up to his eyeballs and with the run of the race likely, he's an easy horse to bet.
Luke Hovhanesian's Tip
I was hoping for a better price for Bois D'argent ($6.50) after being with him last start.
He can certainly win, but I believe you will get a better price come race day.
I'm happy to snap up the early quotes on two value picks.
The first is Spirit Ridge ($18) and the second is Desert Icon ($17).
Spirit Ridge enters first-up for the flying Annabel Neasham stable, following two solid trials.
First-up over 2000m is a big call, but he has the right trainer to pull it off.
Desert Icon has had the two runs back and although It has been a mixed bag for the 7YO gelding, expect Chris Waller to have him ready to fire.
Mick Gannon's Tip
Kallos ($7.50) has returned in fine order as a gelding this preparation and looks to add a Group 1 to his CV.
The step up to 1200m is a query, but from the soft draw he'll have an easy time of it in transit and will be bursting through late.
Luke Hovhanesian's Tip
A very weak edition of the Goodwood sees plenty of value on offer.
I couldn't steer anyone into the short priced favourites and have settled on General Beau ($34/$7) as my on-topper.
The 4YO has been hard to catch over his career but has the talent to beat this lot on his day.
He isn't the biggest horse and I love that he drops to 54.5kg, allowing him to show his blistering turn of foot.
He will go back from the wide draw and there is a hot tempo expected here. The step up in distance to 1200m third-up is perfect and he can be charging at a tiring pack here.
Mick Gannon's Tip
Outback Action ($7.50) ran a career peak last start and looks like a great betting prospect if he gains a start.
He's had the one go down the Flemington straight, running 2.6L off the talented Star Patrol which suggests he'll handle it fine.
From barrier 14, look for him to find the best going down the middle of the track and give us a huge sight.
Luke Hovhanesian's Tip
There was a quiet tip around for Outback Action ($7.50) at his last start at Mornington.
He duly saluted in impressive fashion, running his rivals into the ground.
While he steps up in grade here and tackles the straight for only the second time, it is hard to not be excited about his prospects in this field.
I'll also have a small each-way speck on Sessions Road ($41/$9) who won at his last start down the straight.
He knocked off It'sourtime who has since saluted, franking his form.
He tends to get back in his runs, but loves the Flemington straight and can surprise at odds.
Mick Gannon's Tip
Zaaki looks very hard to beat. He appeared vulnerable second up, but I expect him to improve off that run thrid-up.
Zeyrek is a clear danger at a big price.
He ran within 0.6L of Zaaki last start and relishes rain-affected going.
As far as bets go for this race, I'll be playing Zeyrek ($16/$3.80) on a 1x4 basis.
Luke Hovhanesian's Tip
Not a race I am keen to bet into at all, with one of the weakest Doomben Cup fields in recent times.
If you twisted my arm, I would have a small nibble at Diamil ($31/$6).
If you can ignore the last start run when he was caught in traffic and in the worst part of the track, his prior form is good enough to be competitive here.
Not sure any of them can beat Zaaki, but at the $6 place he looks intriguing.
