Cody's statistical insights are giving punters a huge edge over the bookies and this weekend he tackles Flemington.
There is plenty of value on offer with trainers and jockeys airborne in 2023.
Read his best bets article here for the meeting.
While he does not top the trainer stats for the best record at Flemington, Cranbourne-based trainer Enver Jusufovic is a trainer to follow at this meeting with a top chance and a couple of good roughies.
Jusufovic has a 14% winning strike rate at Flemington and also has had 14 winners from his last 100 runners.
Jusufovic has three runners on the Flemington program with ‘Vongole’ ($23) in race 7, ‘Pinstriped’ ($2.70) in race 8 and ‘Miss Jennifer’ ($26) in race 9.
The main focus this week is on trainers in top recent form and there has been none in better form at this meeting than Cranbourne-based trainer Grahame Begg.
Begg has been shooting the lights out with 25 winners from his past 100 runners, which includes an outstanding 12 winners from his last 30 runners!
Begg has just one runner on the Flemington program with ‘Son Of Solly’ ($11) as his only stable representative in Victorian racing.
A fellow Cranbourne-based trainer has also been in top form recently with 24 winners from his last 100 runners, which includes 3 from his last 6, and that is Clinton McDonald.
McDonald has two runners on the Flemington program and both look to have good chances at handy odds.
McDonald has two sets of 3yos racing at Flemington on Saturday with 3yo Supido Gelding ‘Fasuto’ ($8) in race 7 and 3yo Snitzel filly ‘Holly Lolly’ ($6.50) in race 9.
The final trainers to follow for this week’s meeting at Flemington is the training duo of Ben & JD Hayes.
The Hayes’ have had an impressive 23 winners from their last 100 runners (including an impressive 6 winners from their last 12 runners) returning a 58.1% POT.
The Hayes stable has a big day at Flemington with 8 runners on the program in all races bar 4 and 9 with their best chances looking to be ‘Sweetened’ ($6) in race 2, ‘Boonie’ ($6.50) in race 7 and ‘Makram’ ($14) in race 8.
Plenty of value on offer there in the Hayes stable at Flemington!
Tasmanian jockey Sigrid Carr tops the standings for winning strike rates at the track amongst jockeys riding at Flemington this week.
While the sample size is small, with Carr winning 1 from her 5 rides at Flemington throughout her career, what makes her one to follow is the fact she has returned 196.3% POT from her rides at Headquarters.
Carr has just the one ride on the program at Flemington with it being aboard her own horse in ‘Queenborough Flyer’ ($17) in race 9, which looks like a solid winning chance at the big odds.
Certainly worth backing!
Apprentice jockey Matthew Cartwright sits in second for winning strike rates at Flemington with a 12.7% winning strike rate.
Cartwright has 3 rides on the program with ‘Sam’s Image’ ($151) in race 3, ‘Flash Feeling’ ($23) and ‘Zac De Boss’ ($13) in race 8.
Turning to jockeys in top recent form, one man sits atop the standings and that is the returning Brad Rawiller.
Rawiller has 17 winners from his last 100 rides and also boasts a solid record at Flemington with a 10.5% winning strike rate over his long career.
Rawiller has just the 2 rides on the Flemington program, both at monster odds, with ‘Mr Mosaic’ ($61) in race 7 and ‘Galgani’ ($41) in race 9.
The final jockey who looks to be well worth following according to the stats is Jarrod Fry.
Fry has had 16 winners from his last 100 runners at a 24.6% POT also holds a solid record at the track with a 11.4% winning strike rate at Flemington.
Fry deservedly has a big books of rides with a sit in every race except for races 5 and 8.
The best of Fry’s chances looks to be ‘Lady In Pink ($5) in race 1, ‘Son Of Solly’ ($12) in race 4 and ‘Funzelle’ ($17) in race 9.
Plenty of value on offer once again amongst the rides of jockeys to follow this week.
