It’s a Saturday Sha Tin meeting in Hong Kong today, with 10 turf races to be held on the “C” Course.
This year’s Hong Kong Derby contenders are strong. We have seen 3 horses win at their next starts: Romantic Warrior, Senor Toba and Nordic Sky.
So we should keep our eyes on Ima A Single Man (Race 3), Mr Ascendency and Rocket Spade (Race 8).
Zac Purton and Karis Teetan are both fully-booked today. Zac’s mounts look slightly better but don’t forget the in-form Lyle Hewitson who gets some good rides too.
California Vanes is a strong type tipping the scales at 1217 lbs, and he is becoming more muscular.
This Hinchinbrook 3YO is going to have his 5th start today, now he is mature enough to win.
Last 2 starts he led and kept quite well till the end, he was just beaten by Fun N Glory and August Moon who are in-form.
There is no speed in Race 6, so California Vanes breaking from gate 9 can lead easily under Zac Purton and is likely to break maiden.
Run Run Cool is looking for a hat trick today over his best course and distance, he is so fit and is able to do it.
He won impressively in his last 2 starts over this trip and the winning margins were at least 2.25L.
Zac Purton keeps riding him, also still racing in Class 3 this time will be easy for him.
He is big enough to overcome the top weight to keep the winning streak in this weak field.
A cracking race with the vote going to Ima Single Man.
The Tony Cruz star has enjoyed a good season with two wins over today's Course and Distance.
He then ran in every leg of the 4YO Classic Series but it stretched his stamina and he appreciated the return to this trip last month.
With Zac Purton riding the selection for only the second time he can win again from the 1 gate.
Silver Express and Good Luck Friend can challenge him the most.
Run Run Cool will be a popular choice to win for the third time in a row but I'll take Alcari to spoil the party.
Though 7YO he's never been better and already won twice over C&D this season.
Last time he defeated the odds-on favourite Whizz Kid and that horse has boosted the form by going on to win twice.
Alcari returns from a 56 day absence but looked impressive in a recent trial and the break has probably freshened him up.
>Run Run Cool can run well but an 8Ib rise puts him on a new career high mark.
