Racing this weekend is set to light up the track, with the running of multiple group races along the eastern coast of Australia.
Our resident gun analysts have done the form and have lined up some best bets.
Our two Melbourne experts have both agreed that one horse stands heads and shoulders above the rest on a tough card
Whilst Rick and Justin are back with their respective best bets.
Doomben Race 5 Tip #3 Gogol $4.20
This son of I Am Invincible doesn't do himself any favours by getting back in his races.
The good news is this weekend he drops in grade and gets conditions to suit.
The Les Kelly trained galloper, has put together a tidy report card, winning on 6 occasions from 18 starts. (18: 6-3-4).
Last run in a 1 metro win event, he flashed home from well back to finish second behind the consistent Kingston’s Here.
Regular rider Boris Thornton will again go back from a wide gate and follow a genuine tempo.
He is adaptable to any going, which is a big tick given Brisbane’s unsettling weather of late.
Back to this No metro win race, he looks cherry ripe to add to his already impressive record.
Caulfield Race 9 #2 Tuvalu $2.00
On what appears to be a tough day for punters they can be rewarded with a win by the up and coming Tuvalu.
His form lines are compelling.
He has won four of his six starts and his only two defeats have been second placings to one of Australia’s best gallopers in I’m Thunderstruck.
The second of those he took the race right up to I’m Thunderstruck going down by half a length in the finish.
He resumed at Warrnambool recently when he jogged in over subsequent Moonee Valley winner Zoltan.
The end margin was three and a half lengths but it could have been a lot more as he was throttled down despite being un-extended.
He’s drops to a Benchmark 78 and should prove a class above his opposition.
Caulfield Race 9 #2 Tuvalu $2.00
Have a very strong opinion of this Lindsey Smith galloper and believe he is a group horse in waiting.
He had a terrific first up win down at the Bool where he absolutely smashed the clock over 1400m.
Zoltan who ran a well beaten second that day won convincingly at The Valley last weekend, which gives me confidence the form will stack up.
Second up last preparation, Tuvalu made I’m Thunderstruck work to beat him, before that horse went onto winning the Toorak and Golden Eagle.
With the lack of speed underneath him he can find the lead without to many issues, or using petrol tickets early.
He ticks a lot, if not all the boxes for a bet, and with upside to come I doubt we have seen the best of this lad.
Happy to take the $2 currently on offer.
Pinjarra Race 5 Tip #14 Via Monte $3.30
Via Monte is a consistent galloper, notching 1 win and 4 seconds from 7 starts.
He was no match for Spin the Knife last start but that form looks to be strong with him being the favourite for the 3yo Magic Millions Trophy.
The drop back to 1000m looks to be more to his liking, allowing him to use his sharp turn of foot.
He is drawn the right side of the track for the 1000m straight. This will allow him to land just behind the hot speed and have access to the better going down the straight.
Race favourite Sockoff will either have to work to get across to the rail or race down the middle which is inferior going.
Time for Via Monte to go one better and notch win number 2.
