Boxing Day is always a treat.
12 race meetings are scheduled across Australia and big fields are littered throughout.
There's plenty of value on offer for punters and our resident analysts have you covered.
Get the fridge stocked, strap yourself in and enjoy the day.
Doomben Race 2 #10 Shebringzit $3.00
On a card where there are a few short priced favourites, this mare looks a good chance to repay punters who piled in last start.
She was unsuited on the Heavy 9 surface and struggled to get through the ground.
Once she got to the best part of the track however, she did her best work late.
For this assignment, she gets a 1.5kg swing on the winner of that clash, Kirkeby, and has gun NZ jockey Samantha Collett on board this time.
From the rails draw, she will get a nice run midfield on the fence and Collett can weave her magic to find a passage in the straight.
The Tony Gollan trained mare will have momentum on her side and I expect her to overhaul them in the concluding stages.
Caulfield Race 7 #9 Bonvicini $3.20
I'm very keen on the Maher/Eustance trained Bonvicini in the Lord Stakes.
Without a win this preparation, she has been producing strong performances around this grade.
She comes here off an unlucky second, where her run was checked at the 200m before rebounding and coming again late.
She would've won that race with even luck.
She maps to get a perfect position in the box seat with a positive ride from McNeil.
This is her sweet spot distance wise, and the spacing of her runs has seen her produce strong closing figures this preparation.
It looks a great placement here for the in-from mare and looks the perfect set up to send us into the New Year with our pockets full.
Randwick Race 7 Tip #6 Ho Ho Khan $18.00
This could be a real diamond in the rough this Boxing Day.
The former Hong Kong galloper makes his second start here in Australia for new trainer Mitchell Freedman after a terrific run first-up.
On that occasion, he finished third in the Wodonga Cup to Akecheta over the 1590m.
While that form may not stack up to some of these, there was plenty of merit to his performance.
Not only did he carry 61kg on a Heavy 10 track, but it was his first career run on rain affected going.
He was held up at a critical stage and had to change course to the inside where he made a charging run late, powering past the first two not long after the winning post.
Freedman is making a very rare trip to NSW with this horse, just the third time in fact and second time to Sydney.
He gets Chad Schofield aboard, who has experience with riding him and will appreciate getting out in trip to 2000m.
His form in Hong Kong was excellent including a Group 3 win over 2400m, a fourth in the Group 1 HK Gold Vase, a sixth in the HK Gold Cup and a fifth in the HK Derby.
He should appreciate going around clockwise like he did in HK and looks a terrific chance at long odds.
His best is certainly good enough!
Caulfield Race 9 #6 Eluding $6.00
Looked home over 1600m at Flemington last start, but was run down by Brasada who was given a brilliant ride by Damien Oliver.
He drops back to 1400m for this clash, which will suit much better and he will also be ridden by senior jockey Luke Currie.
He's a promising galloper who maps well to sit off the speed. Look for him to power home over likely leader, Do You Reckon, in the straight.
Randwick Race 9 #6 Blesk $4.60
The John O’Shea trained gelding is knocking on the door for a win, stringing some cracking runs together now.
He has been too far back in his races to date, and given himself far too much work to do.
However, I am expecting him to finally get the right set up come Sunday.
He ran into the smart Brookspire last tine out and was taking good ground off her late.
In that clash, he recorded the race fastest last 600m (34.60), last 400m (22.96) and last 200m (11.76).
There looks to be a strong tempo up front and him drawing out only aids his chances.
He doesn't like to be cluttered and I expect Bowman to keep him off the rails and give him a nice run into the race.
He is going super this prep and meets his weakest field yet. Can only run well.
Randwick Race 4 Tip #7 Spaltet $4.60
I am very keen on this 4YO gelding, who finally steps up in trip.
All his runs this campaign have told a similar story, where he's drifted back from a wide gate before storming home to just miss.
This Saturday he gets out to 2000m which will suit perfectly, and he gets a kind speed map, even though he is drawn the carpark.
Jockey Jason Collett will be able to just ease him across with early speed inside of him.
Even if he is three wide the trip, if he has cover this will be the perfect set up to let down prior to the bend.
The worst situation for these 'turn of foot' horses is being cluttered along the rail, so I am he'll be avoiding that situation.
With a pinch of luck and a clean get away, expect Spaltet to dominate this field.
Albany Race 6 Tip #7 Apollo $3.50
Apollo is a nice horse in the great Southern region.
Having mainly raced in the city last preparation, he returns to the area off the back of a super impressive trial where he cruised around and won comfortably.
Apollo has the tongue tie on here for this assignment and has the ear muffs removed.
Look for Corporate Larrikin to provide some tempo in the race.
From the low draw, Apollo will be able to land midfield and with the benefit of a cutaway, watch him get a nice run and prove too good.
