Eagle Farm R6 Tip #5 Sea Raider $5.50
This son of Reset is undefeated on rain affected tracks and is likely to get those conditions here, given the showers in Brisbane this week.
Although his last start effort over 1200m was just an even run, he still managed to finish within 2.35 lengths of the winner. The step up to 1400m will only suit him better, having notched up 2 wins from 4 starts at the distance..
Jockey Ryan Maloney is back on board for the first time since his debut victory in January.
Look for Maloney to race on the speed, which proved a winning formula for this gelding on the heavy at the Gold Coast in June when he led all the way over 1400m.
Whilst there are a few winning chances in this race, he gets conditions under foot to suit and is out to an ideal distance range.
Value runner who is ready to peak.
Wyong Race 3 Tip #3 Spaceboy $4.20
If the Portelli camp decide to back-up Spaceboy in the three & four-year-old Magic Millions, expect him to take a stack of running down.
Early in his career, he was known to be an enigmatic speed machine that struggled to tick off his maiden.
However once he did break through, he put together 4 wins in 6 runs last preparation which is a credit to connections.
He has returned this preparation with two seconds to Invictus Salute, one being in BM100 company and the latest at Listed level which now makes him a black type horse!
He was well supported in betting on Saturday and failed miserably on paper, however I believe the track surface was just way too firm for him.
I’m a big fan of the quick back up, as it shows to me that Spaceboy hasn’t pulled up with any abnormalities and the horse is going well enough to go again.
Portelli has used this tactic with his other horses such as Dio D’oro.
Yao Dash is dual accepted and with the current track conditions and rain to come, I’m expecting the Waterhouse/Bott team to scratch him.
This gives Spaceboy the perfect opportunity to dictate from the front.
He likes Wyong (3:1-0-2) an proven on a wet track (7:3-3-0).
If he gets a few easy sectionals from the front, he’ll prove hard to run down.
Wyong Race 2 Tip #1 Jesse James $1.70
I'm keen to be with the Annabel Neasham trained Jesse James and he looks perfectly placed to arrive in the winner's circle, after two good runs for his new stable.
The four-year-old Kiwi bred gelding has only had the two starts in Australia, finishing second on both occasions.
First-up after some very encouraging trials, he hit the line hard over 1200m at Gosford when only beaten 0.9 lengths.
He backed that effort up with a very good second behind Tycoonist from the Chris Waller stable, when sticking on very gamely after carting the field up to a tearaway leader.
He peaks third-up here and steps to 1350m which will suit him down to the ground being by Reliable Man.
Tommy Berry stays on board and despite the 60.5kg on his back, he looks to have the measure on his rivals.
From the wide gate, he will push forward and make his own luck and I expect him to be in the finish.
He looks set up to add to the terrific 29% strike rate for the Neasham stable.
