What a brilliant week of racing it has been so far, and the action continues this Saturday for Stakes Day.
Whether you have had a successful punting carnival or not, our resident GTO tipsters have done the form to help you finish strong this weekend!
Eagle Farm Race 6 Tip #2 Ligulate $3.20
This Cody Morgan trained 6YO has a tidy 23% win strike rate and second up he looked back to his best.
When asked to produce in the straight, he powered home from the rear to just miss behind Colpo Di Tamburo.
He was a tad unlucky on that occasion as he had to push out between runners and probably lost a half a length in the process.
This son of Domesday will take a lot out of that run and should now enjoy the step up to 1500M.
Andrew Mallyon will take him rearward, however he may sit a pair closer in the run over the longer trip.
Expect him to be thundering home late and finish over the top of them.
Flemington Race 1 Tip #5 Hosier $2.50
This gelding is one of the most exciting prospect in Australia after being imported from overseas.
He is currently undefeated in four Australian starts.
He's taken some useful scalps along the way including Tooradin at his last start over 2000m at Flemington in August.
Team Williams and Robert Hickmott will be keen to get on the board during the spring carnival before progressing him onto stronger Summer races.
He looks well placed and should keep his Aussie record intact.
Ascot Race 2 Tip #1 Ponyo $2.60
Things didn't go according to plan for Ponyo last saturday.
He was slow away, left chasing the field immediately and then was flat footed when the sprint went on.
Two starts ago she was less than a length off Liwa and Spin The Knife when in the wrong part of the track for the day, and that form should absolutely stack up here.
She gets a pair of blinkers for the first time which she will benefit from, and the rise to 1200 looks like it could suit in a race which won't be a jump and run.
The drop in grade and 3kg claim also looks astute from trainer Todd Harvey.
The race doesn't look to have a lot of speed on paper and if Ponyo can jump well she should be able to get in the first 4.
From there expect class to prevail.
Rosehill Race 7 Tip #11 Ebhaar $16.00
I really liked the way this two-year-old filly won her trial at Randwick.
She sat wide but still let down in the straight to win, mostly under her own steam.
This Saturday jockey Robbie Dolan will let Ebhaar drift back from the wide barrier before bringing her to the outside to let down.
You would expect she would improve from that hit-out and be worth a couple dollars EW at the current odds.
