The Silver Eagle launches on to the racing calendar this weekend. The inaugural running of the $500K feature event provides an opportunity for the top three runners to directly qualify for The Golden Eagle, and a shot at the $7.5 million purse.
The race will be contested under set-weight conditions and restricted only to four-year-old's. The 1300m clash has attracted 15 nominations , including the Chris Waller trained Zousain, Fiesta and Madam Rouge.
Team Hawkes have two runners nominated, the lightly raced Kapajack and Group Two winner, Sesar.
The Anthony Cummings trained Mizzy is aiming for four-wins on the trot and can go on with it with a fitness edge on her rivals.
With 25-45mm of rain forecast for Friday and Saturday it'll pay for punters to dive deep into the wet-track form.
Value Bet: Sesar $11.00
Twice a winner in Group company on rain affected tracks, the son of Sebring saves his best for form for heavy tracks.
While his last start 13th of 14 in the Group One Memsie Stakes doesn't read well, he had genuine excuses after being slow to begin before following the rail home in the worst going.
He's been kept fresh for this run and will relish the predicted heavy conditions, given the significant class drop, he's right in this race and looks genuine value at $11.
