The Magic Millions two-year-old feature is always a hectic dash, which is exacerbated by the tight turning Gold Coast Circuit and short run to the first turn.
This year's edition looks to host an even field, with a number of runners currently battling it out for favouritism.
As always, I expect the Sydney form to prove strong. However, I am very wary of the local hopes who have been supported in betting and are coming off significant freshen up breaks.
The Gold Coast surface is currently rated a Good 4, with the rail out 1m from the 1000m - 400m mark and True the remainder of the course.
Fine conditions are predicted for the remainder of the week and on Saturday for the Magic Millions feature events.
With the very tight turning circuit at the Gold Coast, it is a distinct advantage to draw inside and be racing on or close to speed.
As always, a close watch is advised early to determine any fast lanes or bias.
The favoured runners remain steady in betting.
There have been some longer priced moves seen for Lady Banff who is $18 into $16, and Away Game who is $26 into $20.
#1 King's Legacy $7
Had good support in betting to win last start, when he raced close to speed and came home over the top of the leaders to win well.
I expect Team Snowden can easily have him peaking up again for Grand Final day and he could improve further here.
The stable are the best in the business when it comes to two-year-old's and he is sure to be a major player. Yes.
#2 Farnan $6
Slight knock on the Aquis management team, who have a terrible strike rate and are simply not utilising their vast resources well.
Reports are Gai is very confident, but no surprises there!
He looks a quality colt who they are desperate to get to stud, however I'm happy to bet against the hype at this stage.
Risking at the current odds.
#3 Rathlin $19
Like Farnan, from the under-performing Aquis group and he represents their least likely hope according to the betting.
The Speed Map is very ugly for him from gate 19 and it will be a suicide mission if they decide to push forward. No.
#4 Conceited $9.00
The Godolphin stable won this race last year with Exhilarates at their first try and have arrived with another highly capable type again.
He got well back last start at this track, before running home strongly late to grab second.
Expect the last start run to have him topped off nicely for this, with good improvement to come. Include in everything.
#5 Aim $6.00
Looks all quality and is the most favoured of the Snowden's four runners.
The last start Randwick effort could not have been more impressive, where he brained a good field by 4 lengths.
That could be the strongest form line and he may only need to repeat that effort to be winning this. Goes on top.
#6 Wisdom Of Water $15
Showed great toughness to fight hard all the way to the line here last start, when beating a good one in Conceited.
The Toby Edmonds stable are very shrewd and the timing of this preparation looks impeccable.
He receives plenty of speed map favours from gate 7 and looks big odds at the current quote. The value runner.
#10 Every Rose $11
Loves to lead and dictate, however he will need to be very sharp out of the gates to do that here.
The leader profiles from tricky gates are always a good risk in these high pressure races, and it would not surprise to see them revert to a position midfield with cover.
The speed map is not attractive for her and I prefer others here.
#11 Gotta Kiss $13
Was backed as if unbeatable last start, before just scraping in at Eagle Farm by the barest of margins.
Her form is all local and there has to be a query on it, considering the weaker two-year-old fields in Brisbane.
I can't rule her out however, as she comes in off a three week freshen and could have taken significant improvement in that time.
Watch betting.
#12 Dusty Tycoon $17
Arrives here after a six week break with one trial to ready her for this.
She qualified early by winning her first two career starts and from then, the trainer had the luxury of a very flexible preparation.
There are plenty of unknowns here which makes her dangerous to oppose, and if the money did come late I would expect her to run well.
Watch Betting.
#13 Lady Banff $18 > $16
Is from the shrewd Matthew Dunn stable, who would only target this race with a very good one.
She was excellent last start when just missing behind Gotta Kiss, in a race where the local Brisbane form must be a query.
The early betting market says yes and if further support comes on the day, it may pay to follow. Can win.
#14 Away Game $26 > $20
Has attracted early support in betting here following the good Doomben win last start, where she won well after racing outside the leader.
There is plenty of potential improvement and I am very wary. Big odds.
Of The Others
#15 Stellar Pauline brings the stronger Sydney form behind Aim and although well beaten, as two year old's they can improve significantly.
She has to be considered if she gets to silly odds ($30+).
1st Aim
2nd Conceited
3rd Kings Legacy
4th Lady Banff
