Considered the curtain-raiser to the 2YO feature event, the 1400m Magic Millions 3YO Guineas deserves it's own spotlight with the $2M purse attracting a quality 16 horse field.
From the 1400m start point of the the Gold Coast (Aquis Park) track, a long 400m run to the first turn will give most runners the opportunity to find a position before hitting the tight circle. The three-year-olds tend to handle the track conditions and lively atmosphere better than the less mature two-year-olds.
Pierata has been all the rage here following some impressive lead up runs, coming into $2.25 from $2.40 openers this week with bookies reporting popularity in doubles and sports multiples. There has also been support at longer odds for Bel Sonic into $14 from $17.
Ran well at Flemington in the Coolmore Stud Stakes, a race well above this restricted grade. Strung together some impressive wins at Randwick and along with the favourite represents some class. Bjorn Baker knows what horse to bring to this event.
This colt should be peaking now third-up for the lethal Waller and Bowman combination who relish these big races. Had a huge boom early in his career with some heavy late moves in betting. Happy to be on at this each way from tricky gate 15.
Must be included on his stylish Mooney Valley win when hard in the market. Has been lightly raced which sets up well for a race like this. Strong rider Ben Melham a plus, his vigour will lift this Bel Esprit gelding.
Hard to fault- gate one, Corey Brown on board and the best form in the race! Slight knock with him being up for so long and fourth-up here with two trials prior, could be out of steam. Happy to weave in multiples but won't be on top.
Be sure to work long priced local Magnufighter and Adelaide visitor Lady of Crebilly into Trifectas and First Fours.
1st Goodfella – sticking with the class coming via the Coolmore.
