She has won 3 of 4 this prep, starting $1.85 favourite last start at Flemington, where she may have been unsuited by track conditions. Now back to Caulfield’s tighter-turning track, she should get rolling early, catch them off guard, and prove hard to beat.   Entrusting Plenty of big ownership motivations here, as Arrowfield Stud and a leading stable look to enhance his profile. He was backed off the map ($5 into $3.60) and won well at Sandown last start, showing serious ability. Now stepping up in class, but he looks progressive and has no issue handling the rise in grade. Expect another strong performance.   Tropicus A high-priced colt with stallion potential, Tropicus is being carefully placed to build his value and progress through Group level. The booking of Mark Zahra is a huge positive, as top stables rarely waste his services on horses not ready to fire. With big goals ahead, the team will want a statement win here—he’s a serious contender.   Too Darn Lizzie A brilliant front-running sprinter, Too Darn Lizzie loves to jump, lead, and run them along. Her fresh record (2:1-0-0) is solid, and Caulfield heavily favours front-runners, making her a major player. Blake Shinn taking the ride is a huge indicator of intent, as he usually has his pick of the best winning chances. If she jumps cleanly, expect her to be hard to run down.   Rosehill Tips   Makerena The Hawkes stable has a smart one here, and the first-up record (3:0-2-0) suggests she’s primed to fire fresh. They wouldn’t enter her straight into Group 2 company unless they had plenty of confidence, and early market support suggests they expect a big run. If more money arrives late, she will go very close.   Redstone Well Has been trialling superbly leading into this and looks much more forward in condition than usual first-up. Already has experience at this level, whereas many rivals are untested at Group level. With natural tactical speed, he should race prominently and gain a big advantage over the field. Expect a positive ride and a strong showing.   Public Attention A superb winner last start at Randwick, beating high-class rivals with authority. Now steps up to 1400m, which should suit him even better, giving him more time to balance up and charge home. From gate 11, expect them to push forward and land midfield with cover, setting him up for another powerful finish.   Brudenell A lethal sprinter who can lead or finish off from behind, making him hugely versatile. He is also entered for the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate, so if the stable opts for this race, they must have huge confidence in his fitness. With a moderate-to-slow pace expected, positioning will be crucial.   The Winner – #1 Mr Brightside $2.00 If there are no surprise performances, expect Mr Brightside to go back-to-back in this race and claim his ninth Group 1 victory. He was beaten only narrowly by a rising star in Another Wil in the C.F. Orr Stakes, and with the run under his belt, he should be even harder to beat second-up (5 wins from 7 starts second-up). At $2.00, he’s not a betting proposition, but he looks the clear winner.     The Danger – #2 I Wish I Win $4.60 Despite facing a slow tempo, the Moody & Coleman star has a big chance first-up over 1400m. If Mr Brightside doesn’t produce his best, expect I Wish I Win to storm home late and make it a thrilling finish.   The Value – #6 Pinstriped $26.00 This 6YO gelding is at an outrageous price considering his ability. His first-up run in the C.F. Orr wasn’t as bad as it looked on paper—it was hard to make ground from the rear that day. He knocked off Mr Brightside second-up in the Memsie Stakes at this track and distance in the Spring on a Good 3 surface. With identical conditions this time, he’s capable of causing an upset and is worth a bet at the big odds.   Caulfield Race 9 – Group 1 Oakleigh Plate 1100m The Map Expect a hot tempo with Queenslander Golden Boom (13), I Am Me (2), Insurrection (12), and Estriella (4) all pushing forward early. Once they settle, expect I Am Me (2) and Estriella (4) to tuck in behind the leaders. Fast-finishing types like She’s Bulletproof (8), Rey Magnerio (5), Jimmysstar (14), and Arabian Summer (15) will be charging home late. With plenty of speed in the race, expect a genuine pace, giving backmarkers their chance to feature.   The Winner – #7 Jimmysstar $9.50 Backed him first-up at Caulfield over 1100m in the Spring, and buttering up again here. His stablemate Another Wil has elevated to a new level this prep, and Jimmysstar is primed to do the same. His latest jump-out at Cranbourne was superb, and he ticks all the key boxes: Flies fresh (4 wins from 5 first-up starts) Loves Caulfield (3 wins from 4 at the track) Wide barriers suit (7 winners from barrier 10 or wider since 2009) Expecting a career-best performance and a big collect at juicy odds.     The Danger – #5 Rey Magnerio $9.00 Was tough first-up, winning at this track over 1100m, and should be even better second-up (1 win, 1 placing from 2 second-up starts). Jye McNeil has an outstanding record on this horse (6 wins, 5 placings from 12 rides), and he maps for the perfect run just behind the pace. Expecting a big run, and he could be looming alongside Jimmysstar late.   The Value – #1 I Am Me $11.00 Was set to race in the Lightning last week but was scratched due to track conditions. She faces a tough task carrying 57kg and resuming at 1100m, but barrier 2 ensures a perfect run in behind the speed. She’s a superior fresh performer (5 wins from 7 first-up starts) and will be thereabouts at the finish.
