10/7/20 Best horse racing tips today

Scone has an exciting eight race card scheduled for today, which gives us an opportunity to build a nice bank leading into Saturday racing.

The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with a mostly fine forecast in the lead up, punters should anticipate a Good track. 

The rail is in the 5m position, so expect the winners to be coming from close to the pace and on the rail early before evening out.

From the stewards

The horse which stands out for me in the steward's report is Luga Lad, who lines up in race 8.

The Purrealist gelding should have finished a lot closer last start at Newcastle and looks primed to improve here.

He was held up rounding the home turn in that clash and shortly after straightening, was denied clear running.

He was then held up when passing the 200m mark, which hindered his chance to finish any better than 3 lengths fifth.

Expect a much better effort today with some better luck.

The Medaglia D'oro gelding has been very consistent this preparation and looks set to continue his good form today.

Last start, he just ran into one better at this track and distance after going toe-to-toe with his rival but failing to get past him in the shadows of the post.

He gets a very similar set-up for this assignment, with the same track, distance and Mitchell Bell on board. 

Expect Bell to sit a touch closer than last start and position this galloper in the prime position once entering the straight.

He looks well placed and the one to beat.
