Waller 2YO placed to perfection
This week punters are highly active and have again hammered a few at early prices, at both key venues.
At Flemington a prominent NZ ownership group have sent a gun 2yo to attack the Australian prizemoney riches.
Whilst at Rosehill master trainer Chris Waller has two intriguing runners that look well set-up to win.
As always, any further market push close to start time would add extreme confidence.
Flemington Tips
Codigo
Kiwi’s rising 2yo star, who is 2 from 2 and has been sent straight to Melbourne following an effortless win at Trentham.
This is much harder however he is clearly well above average and trust the Waikato Stud team to have him primed for this.
Provided he handles the straight, he could simply blow these all away.
Party For One
Won well here last start over the same 1400m distance where not all went to plan after he was held up, however still came home hard over the top.
Shinn sticks which is an excellent guide, as he would have had plenty of other offers in this.
From the wide draw (gate 13) they will look to find cover midfield in the moving line before finding clean air to storm home again.
First Immortal
Was well backed ($5 into $3.90) when winning here last start, by a yard that love to bet.
Although well exposed to the market now and the betting job is done, they will still be keen to continue the winning streak.
Love that he is coming out of a fast-run race last time out, and with the added fitness he should be one of the strongest late.
Grey River
Was the spruik horse last start when the ownership group had entered here. They however opted to go to Morphettville, where she just missed (2 of 14) in stakes grade.
She had genuine excuses last time out when trapped wide in a huge effort.
Given more luck here and a switch to gun rider Blake Shinn, she looks awfully hard to beat.
Rosehill Tips
Tutta La Vita
Her debut run at Canterbury (2 of 9) was excellent, over what was an unsuitably short 1100m around the tight turning track.
This is a completely different set-up, now on the bigger Rosehill track and straight to 1300m
The master trainer looks to have set her up perfectly and the owners have clearly been told to have a bet!
Yes.
Grebeni
Simply brained them last start at Warwick Farm where the market loved him ($2.40 into $2.00 late).
This is a touch harder however he was ultra-dominant last time out and looks right up to this class.
If he can jump with them, they can land midfield with cover and prove very hard to beat.
Herman Hesse
Has a touch of quality and is from the right camp (Maher/Eustace) to win this.
He looks suited dropping back in distance from the 2800m of the Andrew Ramsden last start and with the added fitness expect they could opt to ride closer in the run.
With the drop-down to a weaker race and ridden with more intent, he can surprise here.
Wicklow
Super honest Waller runner who won the Wagga Cup two starts back and went close here at his latest (3 of 16) in the Lord Mayors Cup.
He is now rock-hard fit and if the speed goes on is likely to be coming home hard, all over the top of them late.
Dylan Gibbons' 1.5kg claim will help and the wide draw (gate 14) is of no issue, as they are likely to snag back in any case.
Well placed.
