Best plays for The Valley
Hong Kong racing returns to The Valley today, with a 9-race card scheduled on the “B” Course.
Zac Purton scored 4 winners last Sunday at Sha Tin. He is now 2nd in the jockey premiership, just 2 wins behind the leading Joao Moreira.
The feature race of the day will be Race 9, a Class 2 event over 1000m where rising star Lucky Sweynesse returns to Happy Valley in pursuit of his 6th win.
Happy Valley Race 1 #7 Run The Table $5.00
Run The Table in the opener will be ridden by Zac Purton, who is the best partner for the horse having notched up two victories on his back in the past.
At the career low mark of 38, this Francis Lui-trained 5YO is ready to bounce back.
He was drawn 2 today, which will allow him to get to the rail behind the leaders in a nice position.
This horse had a good gallop on Monday, showing he is now very fit to win again.
Happy Valley Race 3 #8 Yellowfin $4.50
Yellowfin will have his 3rd start today. He is improving steadily and has a good chance to break his maiden.
This 3YO made his debut over the all-weather course on 4th May, in what was a disappointing effort considering he could not lead until the end.
However, last time out he moved to Happy Valley and showed a great turn of foot to run 2nd behind the in-form Gorgeous Vitality.
He keeps racing at the city circuit today, which is a positive switch given he suits a tighter track more.
Joao Moreira will be on board again, and he can perform well in what is a weak field.
Happy Valley Race 6 #8 Singapore Spirit $17
This is a wide open race but I like the chance of Singapore Spirit for Tony Cruz.
The son of Vancouver is lightly raced but already shows plenty of ability.
He went close on debut over this track and distance and the last two runs have been full of promise.
Last time out, he attempted to make every post a winner and only gave out close to home, beaten 2½ lengths under Matthew Chadwick.
Karis Teetan takes over and he can get off the mark at his sixth attempt.
Happy Valley Race 7 #6 Nicconi County $4.50
A cracking heat where Nicconi County can win for the second time over this track and distance.
The Nicconi gelding comes here a fresh horse with four runs this year.
Sent off at 20/1 last time, the Casper Fownes 3YO stayed on strongly from a wide draw to finish 3rd behind Be Ready.
Vincent Ho retains the ride from barrier 1, which is an excellent draw over the 1200m.
With just 5 career runs, he is unexposed and can defeat his closest rivals, Flying Season and Like That.
