Hong Kong Racing Best Bets`
The first June meeting in Hong Kong has lined up some really competitive fields.
For tonight, 9 races will be held at Happy Valley on the “C+3” course.
There are 14 meetings left in this season, and our top 2 trainers are having a mighty tussle for the training premiership.
Frankie Lor is now leading with 78 wins, while John Size is only 1 win behind.
Joao Moreira suffered from dehydration last Sunday at Sha Tin, however he has recovered well and is set for a good book of rides.
Happy Valley Race 1 #8 Sunny Delight $3.80
Sunny Delight is still a maiden after 14 starts in Hong Kong, but the return to 1650m is going to suit him perfectly.
He has had two separate placings over this course and distance, including his start on the 27th April.
On that occasion, he was beaten by the in-form World Famous and Win Win Fighter.
He now carries a low mark of 43, and will only need to hold 119 pounds.
Joao Moreira takes the sit, after riding this horse in an impressive gallop on Monday.
With all these factors in his favour he is well-prepared to score his first win.
Happy Valley Race 2 #2 Shanghai Power $2.90
Shanghai Power holds the class record time over 1000m at Happy Valley in 56.52.
That record was set on his seasonal debut this season and his last start second showed glimpses of his talent.
His gate speed is consistent and it's a big advantage for sprint races in Class 5.
In his latest barrier trial on the 17th of May, he led along the rail and stayed on well.
Breaking from gate 2, he can use similar tactics and can bring an early double for Joao Moreira.
Happy Valley Race 5 #4 Pleasant Endeavor $6.00
This two-time winner in Hong Kong made his first visit to Happy Valley last month.
On that occasion, he was ridden by today’s jockey Derek Leung.
Overall it was a decent run to finish 4th from the 11 barrier on yielding ground.
He now returns to the same track with the same mark he had for his debut success at Sha Tin.
Trainer Ricky Yiu is in good form and Leung has steered Shining Gem and Precise Express to victory for the stable in the last month.
From gate 3 Pleasant Endeavor has the perfect position to make it win number 3.
Happy Valley Race 9 #9 Win Win Fighter $6.00
A dual winner in Ireland, Win Win Fighter got the breakthrough over this course and distance last month under Blake Shinn.
With the Australian out through suspension, Karis Teetan takes over on the Francis Lui 4YO.
The selection rises in class and weight, however his last start win was with authority and there is no reason he can't go back to back.
He gets a lot of factors in his favour tonight and I am confident he can salute at a nice price.
