Feature Morphettville Horse Racing Tips 3/5/25

Derby Day at Morphettville is upon us and while it might not quite reach the heights of last weekend’s brilliant card, there’s still plenty to like about Saturday’s program.

The feature is the South Australian Derby, headlining what looks to be a solid day of racing under expected Good 3/4 conditions.

The rail out is out 9m from the 1200m to the winning post and 6m for the remainder.

Best Bets for Morphettville by Heath Pope 3/5/25

Race 3 #2 LOVELY LOOKIN’ $6.50

Have always had a healthy opinion of this mare and she looks to be flying coming into this off a blistering 8.26L trial win, the fastest of the morning.

Back to BM64 grade is a major drop in class considering most of her form has been through much stronger company.

Her latest form line behind Sir Sway and Watchme Win reads incredibly well now.

Draws perfectly to settle just off the speed and gets in well with Taylor Johnstone’s claim.

At $4.50 or better, she’s a strong each-way play.

Race 6 #10 GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS $8.50

Ultra consistent mare who’s now placed in 10 of her 13 starts, including a tough win here last time when storming home off a hot tempo.

Drops to just 54kg and gains the blinkers first time, which could see her settle a pair or two closer.

Importantly, her two runs over 2400m have rated among her best to date and in a thin race, she’s right in this at around $5.

Race 7 #11 ESTERNAY $15.00

Lightly raced filly chasing a hat-trick of wins, and she’s been super impressive with her late sectionals.

Last start she was still stone cold last at the 200m but rounded them up with ease — winning untouched and recording the fastest final splits of the meeting.

Yes, it’s a class rise, but she’s crying out for the mile and rates well above her current odds, which look very generous around the $8 mark.
