Dean has declared one
Racing returns to Randwick with plenty of intriguing races set for decision.
The rail returns to the true after being out 10m last raceday and this should mean the track plays fair.
We are looking at a Soft 5-6 track come Saturday but shouldn't affect the quality of the racing at all.
Our leading NSW form analysts have settled on their best plays for the meeting.
Randwick Tip from Michael Gannon
Randwick Race 3 #2 Dimaggio $17.00
This son of Deep Field doesn't win out of turn, but he does race well fresh.
He has two wins and two placings from 6 starts at the 1200m and maps to perfection here.
The 1.5kg claim for the talented Zac Lloyd from barrier 3 will ensure an economical run in transit and is likely to be 3-4L in front of his nearest rivals.
The favourite, Crafty Eagle looks like a quality galloper, but the 1200m first-up is a risk.
Look for him to be flying at them late.
Randwick Tip from Dean Watling
Randwick Race 1 #5 Vomo Island $2.70
Vomo Island is the best bet on the Randwick program.
He was good first up behind Sunlight's brother, Kandinsky Abstract, and the ultra-smart Celestial Legend.
He now rises in trip here up to 1400m which suits his pedigrees and his recent tick-over trial reads well.
He is hard to beat from gate 3 with the likely danger being Tannhauser.
Rosehill Tip from Luke Hovhanesian
Randwick Race 5 #3 Pin Me Up $13.00
It was hard to not be impressed by the trial of this former NZ mare.
Zac Lloyd landed her in a great position in running just behind the leaders, and when asked for an effort over the final 100m she exploded through the line.
Over in NZ, she started a short-price commodity in her races and was unlucky not to win a few more times.
The price of $13 is ridiculous and I can only think the bookies are basing this off her last start failure where she missed the kick, plus the travel.
If she has settled as well as her trial suggests, she should be close to favourite in this field.
The Randwick track with the rail in the true will suit her perfectly as will the rise in distance to 1400m.
Zac Lloyd sticks for race day and from barrier 4 can get a gun run throughout.
Easily the best value bet of the weekend.
