Hong Kong Racing Best Bets
Hong Kong racing continues with a 10-racecard at Sha Tin.
Two of these events are on the all-weather surface and the other eight will be held on the turf “C+3” course.
The weather in Hong Kong continues to be wet. It is expected to be raining during the races.
The surface of the track will also be affected making form lines tricky to line up.
Joao Moreira starts his two-meeting suspension today, while Zac Purton is the only fully-booked jockey.
Sha Tin Race 5 #12 Smart Folks $4.00
This 5YO maiden is being sent out for his 25th start.
The field today is weak and judging off his last few runs, he has enough quality to end the drought.
Karis Teetan takes the ride for the first time and he had an impressive gallop with the horse on the 7th May.
For this event, he carries the bottom weight due to his low rating of 40.
He lines up against Class 4 rivals and we should not underestimate him.
Last time out, he showed ability in this class by running 2nd behind Jazz Angel.
The run was full of merit and a similar performance will see him go very close.
Sha Tin Race 7 #1 Fun N Glory $4.20
Fun N Glory broke his maiden over 1200m in March.
On that occasion he overcame a wide draw under Zac Purton to win easily.
Last start was his first time carrying top weight. He chased well from the rear of the field but couldn't bridge the margin to finish 5th.
Since his spell, he has gained 20 pounds and looks a much stronger horse as a 4YO.
He will strip fitter second up and rises to 1400m. This will be more favourable for this Akeed Mofeed son, as the pace will be run more true.
He can settle off them and steam home down the outside.
Zac Purton gets a lot of good rides today, but Fun N Glory looks the best one.
Sha Tin Race 5 #10 Team Goodluck $12.00
Team Goodluck can win for the second time in 12 starts for Chris So.
The 4YO won for the first time this season and ran well on this surface.
He remains only 5Ib higher than his winning mark and breaks from the 9 gate.
The selection is turning into a consistent type and it's encouraging to see Vincent Ho on board once again.
Sha Tin Race 8 #9 Jazz Angel $4.20
Jazz Angel has really turned a corner following his return to the dirt surface.
Two starts back, he finished an excellent 2nd to Happy Tango.
He made the necessary improvements last month when running out as an impressive winner.
For today, the 4YO goes up 7Ib but is improving.
He can record back to back wins over this course and distance with Blake Shinn.
From gate 9 he can track the pace before closing down the leaders in the home straight.
Main rival Spontaneous won nicely last time, but all his victories have come in Class 4 events and he rises in grade this time.
