Race 3 #3 Tommy Thug – $4.00

Tommy Thug hasn't quite lived up to the early hype since arriving in Australia, but today’s set-up looks ideal for a breakthrough.

He was strong through the line last start, racing off a hot tempo and finishing 1L in front of El Paso, who lines up again here as the race favourite.

This time, he draws a much kinder gate, gains Jason Collett, and should be able to sit closer in the run.

If he reproduces that last-start effort with even luck, he’s the one they have to beat.

Race 4 #8 Mignonette – $2.10

Mignonette showed promise on debut when finishing 4th after racing in the slower lanes down the straight.

Since then, she’s been tipped out for a break and returned with a pair of strong trials, suggesting she’s improved into a better filly.

The form out of her first prep reads well and with natural improvement, she should prove far too sharp for this field and work her way through the grades this campaign.
