The stable does love a bet
With the Sydney Autumn carnival coming to a close last week, punters have still attacked early markets to provide us with excellent early betting leads for the start of the off-season.
At Caulfield the Liam Howley yard looks to have had a bet early, on a horse that must be showing them plenty at home!
Whilst at Rosehill a Waller runner looks primed to be peak, as is the typical “deeper in the prep” set-up of this yard.
Early Market Movers is up over $5,210 over the last 90 days

Caulfield Tips
New York Hurricane
He has been racing well all preparation and did go very close last time out, when placing 2nd of 14 at Bendigo.
He gets a nice speed map here drawing low in gate 3.
From there he can punch up to sit just in behind the leading pair before darting through late.
The stable do like a bet and the early market move would suggest they have a high-level of confidence here.
Oh Too Good
Won well at Yarra Glen last start when she showed plenty of fight to tough it out right to the line.
She looks suited by the drop back to 1400m after a tough run at 1500m last time out.
This should mean she is one of the strongest late.
From gate 2 they will bounce straight to the front and will take complete control throughout.
Semillion
Has a touch of quality and is racing well this preparation, coming out of some high-rating races.
He races for a number of high-profile racing powerbrokers who will be expecting results from the trainer, hence the motivation should be high.
They have the tactical speed to negate the outside draw (barrier 10) and could find the front.
From there he should prove very hard to run down.
Hedged
Classy 3yo who has form around the smart Joiliestar who he ran second to at Randwick last start.
He has huge wraps on him from the stable, with Mick Price openly declaring him as one of the best 3yo’s in the yard.
He was unlucky last time out where he had genuine excuses after being held up at a crucial stage.
He probably should have won.
Rosehill Tips
Rantan
Ron Quinton 2yo filly who won well on debut at Newcastle when heavily backed ($2.30 into $1.75) late.
She looks well above average and deserves her chance in Sydney Saturday Metro grade.
With a low draw (gate 2) and contesting a race in the offseason where many of the gun 2yo’s are absent, she will have every chance.
Perennial
Has an excellent strike rate after winning 3 of 4 career starts and has been readied for this with two solid trial hit-outs (winning both).
She looks well suited by the freshen-up considering her first-up record is perfect (2:2-0-0) and although not off a long break, it should still have her sharp for this.
Paul Messara is a good judge of knowing the right horse to bring to town for these Highway events and looks to have placed her perfectly here.
Let’s Try
Simply brained them all at Newcastle when winning first-up and was hard in the market on that occasion ($3.30 into $2.50).
He is another that strikes a weak off-season race here where the quality of the opposition is not as strong as a typical Spring or Summer Saturday Metro race.
From gate 7 they should push forward and take a look for the lead or sit just off the leading pair in an ideal striking position.
Ivan’s Hero
Waller runner who will be peaking at this stage of the preparation (third-up) as is typical of this stable’s profile.
He returns from a Melbourne raid which although yielded no wins, go the runs into his legs.
Trust the master trainer has timed his prep to perfection and may have had this race in mind as the “grand final” from a long way out!
