Former Group 1 winner out for more success
Champions Day will be held on Sunday at Sha Tin, but before the big day, we have 9 races at Happy Valley tonight.
The weather is fine in Hong Kong and the track is in good condition.
Horses from inside draws are likely to be favourable over the “C+3” Course.
Vincent Ho is having a good season with 67 victories this term. If he scores any winners in the coming 24 meetings before the season ends, it will be a new record for him.
This local jockey will ride 5 horses today with Circuit Elite (Race 1), Scotch Tycoon (Race 3) and Win Win Fighter (Race 4) his top chances.
Happy Valley Race 3 #6 Telecom Speed $5.00
Formerly trained by James Cummings in Australia under the name Viscacha, this Street Boss gelding is now renamed and already had 9 starts in Hong Kong.
When he was down in Class 4 in January, he showed his class by finishing 3rd and 4th twice respectively.
It was a great run last start as he broke from gate 12 and stayed rearward in a race dominated by front runners.
He draws better in Gate 2 this time and he is expected to stay midfield with a great run in transit.
This should give him every chance to break through.
Happy Valley Race 6 #3 La City Blanche $4.40
La City Blanche is a G1-winning horse from Argentina.
He has settled well in Hong Kong and was placed when second up here.
Then he participated in the 4YO Classic Series but didn't challenge.
He now returns back to a Class 3 race which is more suitable for him.
The last time he raced over 1800m at Sha Tin, he stayed at the back under Angus Chung and did not have a clear run in the home straight.
Trying the city circuit for the first today, he is lucky to be drawn 2 and have Zac Purton on board.
It’s a good chance to score his first Hong Kong victory.
Happy Valley Race 3 Telecom Speed $5.00
This looks like a good opportunity for Telecom Speed to get his breakthrough win in Hong Kong.
With 17 starts he remains relatively lightly raced for Me Tsui who hit the target with Sparkling Dolphin on the weekend.
Recent runs have been encouraging. A close-up 4th to Melbourne Hall two back and he filled the same position last time behind One For All.
Off a career-low mark of 56, he looks primed to win under Karis Teetan from an excellent draw
Happy Valley Race 8 Harmony N Blessed $9.90
A wide-open race but I like the chance of Harmony N Blessed for David Hayes.
His losing run is mounting but as a result, he sits on a very attractive mark - now 10Ib lower than his last victory when edging out Harmony Fire over track and trip.
He bled from both nostrils in that race and it's taken him a long time to recapture that sort of form.
His last two runs, both over 1200M, were very encouraging but it's back over this distance that will ideally suit the selection. From gate 4 Karis Teetan can lead if he wants or stalk the pace.
