Saturday Best Bets at Flemington & Rosehill 17 March 2018

Rosehill has been in the soft range all week but is drying out quickly with all of the sunshine in Sydney on Thursday. It was a soft 7 yesterday, a soft 6 today and likely a soft 5 tomorrow afternoon and i’m expecting us to be in the good range at some point during race day with 33 degree temperatures forecast for Saturday. On pace runners with inside draws will have a slight advantage until it dries out, then it should play pretty evenly.

Flemington had the ‘road’ last week up the rail which made it very hard to get past anything with any ability. The barrier moves out to the 7m position to avoid that lane this week but i’ll be keeping an eye on the early couple of races to see how it pans out. Expect early on pacers to have a slight advantage.

Rosehill 

Race 2 #2 Libran

Ran a beauty of a race first-up behind Winx and his record over the distance is excellent with four wins and a second from seven starts. His second-up record is even better with five starts for three wins. He has to go very close here. $3.70

Race 8 #3 Comin Through

Was great when first-up four weeks ago after just going down by 0.4L. Both horses that beat him home that day have since come out and run well franking that form. He’s never missed the top three second-up so expecting a great effort here from an ideal draw. $4

Flemington 

Race 1 #4 Hear the Chant

Was dominant when winning first-up and her second- up record is even better. Off the back of that strong finish over 1100m, I think she will be even better here second-up over 1200m dropping 4.5kgs off that run. Hard to hold out from barrier two. $2.90 

Race 9 #2 Blue Tycoon

Is having a great prep with three wins in a row and a third so far. All of the wins have been by 1.5L or more, so fifth-up here and rock hard fit means he must be respected. He should cross and lead and will be hard to get past. $7.50
