The Forgotten runner slammed
This week, we’ve seen strong early market moves for several key runners across both Flemington and Randwick, as punters look to get in early ahead of a massive race day.
At Flemington, the VRC Derby champion returns to the scene of his triumph, and while some may see him as short of his best distance, early betting suggests punters strongly disagree.
Meanwhile, at Randwick, a Michael Freedman-trained 2YO by Wootten Bassett looks to have a stranglehold on the 2YO feature race of the day, with Golden Slipper aspirations firmly in sight.

Flemington Tips
Verdad
Significant early betting interest saw his price slashed from $3.80 after a flurry of sharp bets—always a strong sign.
His first-up run here over 1400m was excellent, held up at a crucial stage yet still finishing third in a big field (3rd of 14).
Second-up stats (3:0-2-0) suggest he improves here, and with the step up to 1600m, he looks perfectly placed to strike.
Goldrush Guru
The VRC Derby winner returns to Flemington, where he produced his famous victory last Spring.
He resumed over an unsuitable 1100m in stakes grade at Morphettville, and despite that, he made up ground late and wasn’t disgraced.
Now back to 1400m at Flemington, he’s much better suited, and the big track will give him time to balance up and launch late. Expect sharp improvement.
Cilacap
A lightly raced talent (3:2-0-0) who rounded out last prep with a dominant win at Caulfield over 1500m. Notably, she was very well-backed late ($3.70 into $3.00) that day.
Now first-up, the early betting support suggests she’s forward in condition and ready to go.
The stable is notorious for getting it right when they bet, and money talks in this camp—expect a bold showing.
Euphoric
A Greg Eurell-trained backmarker who thrives off fast tempos and loves to storm home late.
Flemington’s long straight suits him perfectly, and from gate 8, he should be able to slot into the moving line with cover.
With genuine speed in the race, he’ll be launching from the 600m and looking to blow them away late.
Randwick Tips
Adolphus
Trained by Matthew Dale, who knows when to bet and how to place his horses perfectly at Highway level.
He was held up at a crucial stage last start at Rosehill before flashing late for 2nd of 12—a race he should’ve won.
With tactical speed and the right jockey, he should settle just behind the pace and get every chance this time around.
Pallaton
A gun 2YO colt by Wootten Bassett, who continues to produce high-quality juveniles.
The Michael Freedman stable has huge wraps on this colt, who was well-backed ($5.50 into $4.00) and won impressively on debut over 1000m.
Being set for the Golden Slipper, he must win this well and all signs suggest he will.
Shohisha
A stylish winner at Rosehill last start ($3.00 SP) over 1200m, Shohisha now steps up to Group level.
The stable is shrewd and wouldn’t enter her here unless they believed she was a genuine winning chance.
She’s somewhat of a forgotten runner in this field, but could easily prove too strong for the more high-profile contenders.
Disneck
Flying this prep, winning 3 of his last 6 starts.
Last start at Rosehill, he ran into a smart one (Willaido) but was still only beaten 1.4L into fourth—a strong form reference.
The 3kg claim for Anna Roper is a massive advantage and with weight relief, they may opt to sit closer to the speed.
With the stable in red-hot form, this is a dangerous horse to underestimate.
