Best punters & Australian racing media revealed
The first month of the new year started much in the same way that 2018 ended. With the same popular pro punter raking in the profits.
But it wasn't just the punters dominating, with a mix of punters and media experts filling out the podium for both the most cash profit and highest profit on turnover.
In fact, the media experts had a slight edge, with three members from Australia's racing media securing a spot across both podiums. That just bettered the punters, who only had two representatives across both categories, with one featuring on both podiums.
Most Cash Profit
Backing up his phenomenal effort in December was none other than Sporty. This ex-jockey who now resides on the Gold Coast picks up his second consecutive gold medal for most cash profit, with a whopping $8,350 made off $100 win bets in January.
This just about matches the $8,750 he raked in last month. In fact, across the past 90 days, Sporty has tipped a ridiculous 720 winners, returning him no less than $11,415. In January, he found 293 winners, from 816 tips.
Picking up the silver medal for most cash profit was the Steve Zammit from the Daily Telegraph. This form analyst and racing journo is on a roll, giving his followers $7,130 from $100 win bets on his tips. He found 57 winners at an average price of $4.67.
Zammit is proving that he is more than capable of holding his own against the pro punters. Remember, newspaper analysts like Zammit face the major disadvantage of having to submit their tips in advance to meet editorial deadlines. They don't have the benefit of knowing track conditions and late market moves.
It was a punter from New Zealand who made the third most profit. Bigrig13 found just shy of five grand for his followers who backed his tips with $100 bets.
The Kiwi punter took a different approach to Zammit and Sporty, in looking for the long shots rather than lots of shorter priced winners.
And this paid off for him, considering his cash profit was generated from only 3 winners from his 32 selections in January. Not surprisingly, these winners came at a whopping average price of $27.07.
Highest POT
It was under Profit on Turnover conditions that Bigrig13 really excelled. His Profit on Turnover percentage for January was a monster 154%.
As mentioned above, this came off the back of Bigrig13's ability to find the roughies. On his tipping page, this pro punter gives us an indication of his mindset on the punt stating "we all want winners that pay good money so rip into it." And Bigrig13 ripped into it in January, proving he can find value for his followers.
The second highest POT was recorded by popular Racenet tipster Laurie Sainsbury. Sainsbury's 108% POT also came from just three tips but from only 19 selections.
However while Sainsbury's average winning price of $13.17 is nothing to be sneezed at, it didn't quite reach the heights of Bigrig13.
Tony Wode from Sky Racing collected the bronze position on the podium with 103% POT. This came from the super-impressive stats of 8 winners from 22 tips at an average winning price of $5.59.
Wode focuses on the races at Townsville, where he has clearly built up a strong knowledge of the local horses, trainers and jockeys. This local knowledge is invaluable for punters looking for that extra one percent to benefit their own selections.
These punters and form analysts from Australia's racing media have racing tips and best bets posted in the Tip Market. Every tipster has validated profit statistics showing for you to view before you follow.
