Best bets from leading tipsters
Once again, the weather will be the key factor to keep an eye on heading into this weekend.
With rain expected in nearly all the major states across country, it will be vital to monitor how the tracks play early.
Some of our leading form analysts have given us their best bets to help fill your wallet in the lead up to Christmas.
Doomben Race 8 Tip #6 Tycoon Evie $15.00
In an open race, I’m going for value with this Written Tycoon mare who has performed well at Listed level previously.
She is a versatile type, having won up to 1600m. However, the 1200m is where she finds her best form with a record of three wins and two placings from five starts.
Last preparation, she defeated Kisukano, who she meets again here and the well performed Apache Chase in that same race.
Last start she overpowered Acrobatic to win when second up, so will only strip fitter from that win.
With some speedy ones set to vie for the top spot early, she maps to get a nice run just off the pace for jockey Mark Du Plessis.
I'm expecting her to get first crack at it in the straight, as her more fancied rivals are likely to be further back in the pack.
You can count on her being strong late and hopefully that’s enough to kick her home.

Pakenham Race 9 Tip #5 Kissinger $3.60
This looks an ideal race for this middle-distance gelding.
This is set to be his fourth run back from a spell and this 6YO has given every indication he is ready to peak.
He was unlucky in a stronger race at Ballarat last start when he was beaten less than a length behind the dead-heaters, Silent Sovereign and Just Benjamin over 2000m.
From that effort, he drops back to a Benchmark 78 and gains the luxury of a 2kgs claim for apprentice Matthew Cartwright.
He can race handy and from a forward position, he will take running down.

Ascot Race 3 Tip #4 Written Matter $2.70
Written Matter looks like another very progressive horse for the Gangemi yard.
He is three wins from four starts, with his only blemish in a Listed race behind Graceful Girl.
Ziebell will ensure a good tempo with Kenyluck taking the rest of the field up as they are likely to spread out.
Written Matter can show good tactical speed and sit handy, so he won't get that far off the leaders.
He appears to have a short sprint, so I think a fast run 1100m is right up his alley at this stage of his career.
This race would be a nice box for him to tick on his way to better races.
