Kurt Burns' best plays for Wagga
What a cracking way to kick off racing this week, as we head to Wagga for a competitive seven race card.
Strong fields are the theme for the day, with plenty of value on offer for punters.
The rail is 4m out from the 1400m to the 400m position and true for the remainder of the circuit.
The track is currently rated a Heavy 8, however you can expect an upgrade throughout the day.
Wagga Race 3 Tip #7 Allez Brew $5.00
Mitch Beer saddles up the three-year-old filly by Pierro. She's only had the two starts to date and has put in encouraging performances on both occasions.
From barrier 3 here, the filly will lob straight into a great spot, ideally one-out one-back or just in behind the leader.
Last time out at Gundagai when finishing third, she displayed good strength which is always a positive attribute for a young horse.
It looks as though the bookies have got this wrong, as she should be much closer to the favourite in the market.
I expect her to break the maiden status and go on to bigger and better things.
Wagga Race 5 Tip #2 Newtown Braveheart $1.90
Goulburn sisters Emma and Lucy Longmire prepare this gelding by Knight Exemplar, who looks set to notch up win number two from three career starts.
He won his maiden at Goulburn in fine style. He was caught wide with cover early in that clash, however the tempo slowed up and he was forced to move four wide with no cover.
Once they turned for home he was all but in the car park and he fought on courageously, proving the strongest through the line to claim an impressive victory.
From barrier 1 here, expect leading jock Blaike McDougall to sit just behind the speed. The only danger is that he finds traffic and is denied clear running late.
However, Wagga is a lovely spacious track and scared money never wins!
