Sandgroper spreads the good oil for Saturday's racing
Sandgroper is a punter who validates his betting statistics at theGreatTipOff.com. He finished with a strong profit on Thursday this week backing three winners which included Kasi Farasi at juicy odds of $21.50. He finished the day making a healthy 185% profit on turnover for his followers.
Here is Sandgroper's early mail for Saturday.
Octabello - Sandown Hillside R8 #6
He only beat two runners home two starts back but it was a complete and utter 'forgive job'. The Price colt was slow out from barrier four and settled amongst the last couple of runners in a race where 1st, 2nd and 3rd travelled in the first three throughout. Dunn found himself behind a wall of runners rounding the home bend, praying for luck in between horses. The breaks never came for Octabello and he went to the line under a firm hold.
He was good enough at his recent start.
Pick Me Up - Rosehill R7 #1
The Tim Martin-trained Pick Me Up was backed from $11 to $6.50 two starts back and arguably should have got the cash rather than finishing a close second. He was held up on the back of the winner Grand Condor until the 200m when the run came to the inside but the winning post arrived too quickly.
Came home well after a sloppy start at his recent outing. All four career victories have come at 1200m.
Touch Of Silver - Ascot R5 #9
A winner of five from eight so certainly knows how to find the line and there looks to be many more wins to come if his first-up effort is any indication.
After a solid trial, the 1400 metres appeared within scope in his first run back, however the moderate tempo didn't suit him. He took too long to stoke up from back in the field and eventually finished just over a length away in fourth place.
Expect the Durrant-trained gelding to derive a stack of improvement from that outing and be cherry-ripe for a race over further. Should be prominent in the running which is favoured at Ascot.
Dainty Tess - Ascot R6 #6
What a great money spinner this mare is. Second-up from a spell two starts back and carrying plenty of weight, the state's Westspeed bonus record-holder was spotting a start to Winterbottom Stakes candidate and eventual winner State Solicitor.
On turning for home she rattled off similar sectionals to finish a fighting second.
Strong win at her latest outing puts her well in contention.
