Dicko's Wednesday Winner
Team! I’m BACK!
Let's attack the rest of this spring carnival head-on.
I’ll be here for every midweek meeting, giving you one bet for the Wednesday card!
Caulfield on a Wednesday, what an absolute pleasure and time to be alive.
With the rail out 12m at Caulfield, I expect it to advantage those runners up on speed, as always.
However the bet I bring you for Wednesday isn’t affected as much, as it’s in a 2400m race.

Caulfield R3 #8 Pesto $7.50
Now, full disclosure I own The Mailbag Bloodstock and this horse, but that is not why I’m suggesting a bet on him for Wednesday.
Pesto ran in the Listed Ansett Classic in his last start, finishing 4th behind Herman Hesse, who has since come out and won on the weekend in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes.
Not only is that relevant due to the win, but Pesto also started at the same price as Herman Hesse in that Mornington race and didn’t have many favours in the run.
Pesto was over-racing around the 1600m mark and was then held up at a crucial stage while trying to make his way into the race at about the 500m mark.
With clear air, Pesto would have been fighting out the finish!
This race sets up well for Pesto on Wednesday.
There looks to be a bit of speed engaged, with the likes of Way Up High, Convener, Dillian, Whisky On The Hill, I’m A Dirty Rascal, and Fighting Arrow—all naturally up-on-pace runners or looking to show some intent from the gates.
Pesto will be put into the race from the wide gate wherever he settles in the run, most likely toward the front half of the field.
With this horse's ability to sustain a genuine gallop, I believe we’ll see Pesto grind his rivals into the ground.
If you’re an each-way punter, I couldn’t fault you for taking him for a place as well, but I’m a win-only player myself, and I think anything above $6 is a great bet for Wednesday's card!
Let's get the cash early in the program and be playing with the bookies' money for the rest of the day.
