A pro punter pile-up
We've seen some cracking weeks from the pro punters in recent times, but this might just take the cake.
A staggering 8 pros found themselves in the top 10 for cash profit over the past seven days.
In contrast, it was a forgetful week for the media experts, with Simon Thomas from the Daily Telegraph and the Winning Post team the only real exceptions.
Pro Punters have a week to remember
But first onto the punters and there were plenty of familiar faces at the top.
Leading the way was popular Queenslander Tezzaraki.
He raked in $6,530 in cash profit from $100 win bets, after 23 of his tips saluted.
These winners got home at a juicy average price, just a lick under $10.
This is perhaps not surprising in a week where roughies were getting up left, right and centre.
If you think the secret to Tezzaraki's success was fluking a few bolters, then you've got the wrong end of the stick.
He featured in this article only a fortnight ago, demonstrating what terrific form he's in.
In fact over the past 30 days, Tezzaraki has amassed an astonishing $15K off $100 win bets in profit at an eye watering 25% POT.
Furthermore, over his past 10 tipping days, 8 of them have resulted in a profit.
Tezzaraki's tipping streak
There's no doubt Tezzaraki's next tips will be hot property.
Another pro who has earnt his fair share of mentions in 2019 is Fordcat17.
The Geelong local secured no less than 37 winning tips this week..
But with a incredible 119 placings, the profit could've been so much bigger.
As it stands, Fordcat17 found a mightily impressive $5,220 in profit from $100 win bets.
What an effort.
The next pro who really stood out was Elcocapitan.
Not only did he manage to generate $4,660 in cash profit, but he did it at a phenomenal 233% POT.
This was off the back of his ability to find good priced winners from only 14 tips.
The stats show that Elcocapitan's 5 winners came at not only an average price in excess of $10, but a strike rate of 25%.
It's no wonder he finished with such a big POT.
But now onto the media experts, and there's no doubt that Simon Thomas had the best of it.
The Daily Telegraph stalwart steered his followers into 18 winners at a cracking strike rate of 37%.
All these winners came in NSW, with Thomas having particularly good success in the early races at last Saturday's Rosehill and Kembla meets.
Simon Thomas' cracking day out last Saturday
All in all, Thomas' tips returned a cash profit of $3,430 from $100 win, at a 71% POT.
You can't ask for much more than that.
Finally, it's not a person but a publication that deserves the final shout-out.
While plenty of other media organizations were floundering after a tough week's racing, Winning Post really held their heads high.
Three of their tipsters found themselves in the top 20, after they each managed to secure more than $1K in profit.
The best of the bunch has to be Tony Rickards, whose best bet Acting got home at whopping 20/1 odds at Caulfield on Sunday.
When someone of Rickards' calibre selects a roughie as his best bet, the least you can do is have a few dollars on it.
