Murray Bridge Race 5 #12 Zoulah $9.00
Playing this as an each-way bet, but Zoulah represents great value 2nd up this campaign.
She absolutely flew home first-up over the 1000m and the step-up to the 1400m looks ideal.
She finished off with the fastest last 600m of the meeting first up on a Heavy track.
That race was also the 2nd last race of the day, which on a Heavy track, is quite impressive with times normally slowing down as the day goes on.
A slight drop in grade today, with the perfect run and be powering along in the final 200m to hopefully be too good here.
Flemington Race 2 #2 Diamonds $6.00
She drops back in distance to 1000m after her last start win over 1100m at Flemington.
Much like her last start effort, this race sets up well for her again.
Young Liam will ensure a fast speed from the outset which will suit Diamonds run-on style.
She has also drawn out which is also likely to be to her advantage. At her only other start down the straight, she finished a close-up fourth last December in a race where she had to give weight to some smart horses.
Josh Richards again will take a 2kg claim and she loves a soft track. She looks a great chance to make it two wins in a row.
Belmont Race 7 Tip #3 Otheroneson $2.70
Cracking race for a Winter feature with some future A-graders clashing.
Otheroneson skipped the Raconteur and took on the older horses in an open race.
Sitting 3 wide no cover for the majority he still finished in superb fashion.
He was 5 weeks between runs and dropping back to 1400m, so he will derive some extra fitness going into this 1600m event.
He has a near-side bubble cheeker on for the first time, just to help correct his racing manner in the straight.
In a race without much speed, Otheroneson will be able to land in the first few, either outside the leader or possibly in the box seat.
He has a blistering turn of foot and has this race at his mercy.
Ipswich Best Bet Race 2 No. 2 Hamlet Von Snitzel $3.50
This striking chestnut trained by Rob Heathcote, is our best of the day and will enjoy the drop in grade this time.
He has held his own in listed company at his past couple and over the 1350m he should be able to stack them up in front.
Most recently he finished 2.9 lengths off Athelric which is a strong form line for this 3YO handicap.
It should be a controlled tempo at the top, and look for him to slingshot off the bend and gain a break on the field.
He can get the favours and salute.
