It's Goodwood weekend and a ripping card is set for SA racing.
In QLD the carnival also rolls on with the running of the Doomben Cup.
We have the whole of Australia covered in a ripping edition of best bets.
Get the early odds and hop on their selections now.
Doomben Race 4 #1 Shelby Sixtysix $7.50
This cult hero of the punters won the Group 1 Galaxy over the same 1100m distance only two months ago.
He has met his fair share of bad luck ever since, being caught wide and rearward at his past three runs.
He thrives on racing and loves wet tracks, which they are sure to be plowing through given the grim weather outlook we are facing.
James McDonald must be licking his chops here.
He is taking on Listed level horses, which are well below the class he has performed very well against.
The likely scenario from the wide gate will be similar to his past couple. James McDonald will go back in the field, however, I’m backing this gun hoop to find a back to follow and prove his class late.
Morphettville Race 2 #11 Extremely Lucky $1.60
No real value in the price, but Extremely Lucky will be very hard to beat.
First up this prep over 1050m in this grade, he was a sure thing beat when he only got into the clear in the last 50m.
Second up, he stepped up to the 1200m in Group 2 company and again was luckless with limited running room.
Out of the four horses that finished in front of him that day, three are running in Group 1 races today and are sure to provide a great formline going forward.
He comes back to the 1050m here which will suit him better and drops 3.5kg from the last start to carry the minimum weight.
Gate 7 is perfect as he will be able to get back and have clear galloping room down the middle of the straight.
He is also afforded one of the best jockeys in the country in Jamie Kah today, who will make sure she has him perfectly placed.
Flemington Race 8 #13 Tuvalu $2.80
Promising galloper who could end up in a good class mile races eventually.
The Lindsey Smith trained galloper has been remarkably consistent in his short career with five wins and three seconds.
Two of those seconds were behind I’m Thunderstruck and the other one was behind Gentleman Roy at this track and distance.
He returned to his best with an easy win at Warrnambool on a heavy track over 1400m.
There’s going to be good speed which will suit him and he can get a nice spot just off the speed.
Belmont Race 4 #7 Stylax $10
Stylax returned with a very impressive win,
He stalked the speed and let down really impressively under the 60kg.
Stylax looks like a very progressive type who can play a big part here today.
A winner at his only second up attempt, he gets the luxury of dropping 3.5kg with the rise in class.
Warm and Fuzzy and Diamond Blue look the leading pair.
From barrier 3, Stylax can hold a forward position and be close enough on the turn.
With the outside being the predicted better going he can access the A-ground.
Another one I'm keen to follow as the distances increase, but a horse who looks to have a lot of talent.
