A massive weekend of racing is here with the launch of the QLD winter carnival.
The South Australia carnival also rolls on for Derby Day.
Our resident tipsters cover these meetings and more in a stacked edition of best bets.
Eagle Farm Race 4 #10 Startantes $2.60
Back to her own age group this filly looks primed to strike after a fourth placing in the Group 2 Weight For Age Victory Stakes.
Her great second-up record (3:2-0-0) and the suitable 1400m trip are other reasons to feel confident she will take a power of beating in this.
Taylor Marshall has ridden her in all her 15 starts so they must have a great affinity.
Marshall will position the daughter of Star Turn, midfield in running and get going on her in the straight.
She can pack too many punches here and class will prevail in the end.
Morphettville Race 3 Tip #1 Twin Stars $2.90
Twin Stars on debut ran over the top of them in the SA 2YO Magic Millians Classic at Murray Bridge.
He has then been kept fresh for the carnival.
He returned a fortnight ago running an eye-catching 2nd behind the very talented See You In Heaven.
He just conceded too much of a start to the winner that day, but flashed to the line and had the 2nd fastest last 200 of the day.
The quickest final 200m that day was Illation who is being sent out as a 1.30 favourite at Listed level.
The step up to 1400m looks ideal and I'm not too fussed about the Parks track.
I think he will get clear running when needed and be too powerful for them in the last 200m.
Flemington Race 9 #1 Dosh $3.20
Flying filly who looks ideally placed to return to the winner’s list.
She enters this contest first-up in this Benchmark 84 event over 1000m.
From whatever perspective you look at she’s going to be hard to beat:
Her three jumps-outs in preparation for this suggest she’s going as well if not better than she ever has.
Logan McNeil’s 3kg claim brings her in with 57kg and she should be able to dominate from the outset.
Belmont Race 5 Tip #1 Galactic Storm $4.60
Galactic Storm was a little disappointing last start, not being able to reel in Pat's Got Sass when having every conceivable chance.
Pat's Got Sass is no slouch and when winning first up, runner-up Ninetyone Dwyer has held form.
The change to the bigger Belmont track will suit Galactic Storm, allowing him to get into his work.
Victory Vixen looks like the likely leader with Galactic Storm being able to hold the box seat.
I still think he is going to make a very nice stayer in the future but he has the ability to win this today.
